Coug42’s DRIVE/RPM Log

First of all I want to thank AN for sponsoring my Drive/Rpm log. This is kind of a unique log because my goals are not geared towards bodybuilding but more towards strength and athletic performance. I will be walking on in this January to play football for the D1 university that I am currently attending.

I was recruited by them out of high school but then chose to serve a mission for my church in the Philippines for two years. During those two years my weight went from 225 lbs to about 175 lbs because of not being able to workout and from living off of a diet of fish and rice. I came home and ended up getting married and concentrating on my education and preparing for medical school. Now that I am back to where I was strength and speed wise I talked with the coaches and will be walking on in January.

Most of my workouts will concentrate on strength lifts needed for football as well as speed and agility drills. I would really like to put on some more weight and get to about 220-225 lbs but more importantly I would like to get in a little better football shape and improve my quickness and acceleration.

Stats:

Height: 6’1”
Weight: 208 lbs
40-yard: 4.7
Bench: 350
Squat: 450
Hang Clean: 285

Position: ILB

Nutrition:
I eat at least 6 times a day as well as a pre-workout carb slam mixture and also a post-workout protein/wms shake. I usually toss about 6-12 almonds in with every meal. I get about 4500 calories/day (45% carbohydrates / 35% protein / 20% healthy fats).

Supplements:

DRIVE (2 caps AM & 2 caps pre-workout)
RPM (3 caps AM & 3 caps pre-workout)

CEE (5grams/day)
Multi-vitamin

Sesathin (~3ml/day)
Carb Slam
Xtend (+ bulk BCAAs)
100% Whey

Training:

It has been a little difficult lately with my school/work schedule to find a perfectly consistent training schedule but I have worked it out so that I can train twice a day. I will be training Monday-Saturday and I always just rest and recuperate on Sundays.

Sunday: Rest
Monday: Chest & Tri's
Tuesday: Legs & Bi's
Wednesday: Shoulders
Thursday: Back & Bi's
Friday: Chest & Tri's
Saturday: Legs & extra cardio

Weight: 209 lbs
Mood/Focus: Normal so far.

Thoughts:
I didn’t really feel anything yet except for a little more energy and focus. I wasn’t expecting anything big to happen today though since it is the very first day. I did notice that I was sweating quite a bit more and my body temperature felt a little higher. I’m excited though to see where this goes. I'm going to get some pictures up as soon as i can.

Day 2 (10/23/07)

Weight: 209 lbs

Mood/Focus: Focus was great today which definitely helped with my workouts and my molecular biology class.

Strength: Strength was about the same today

Energy: Energy was great again today and I felt like I had more endurance during my workouts and I didn’t have to rest as long in between sets.

Workout:

AM:

Hang Cleans 5x10/10/8/6/4
DB Shoulder Press 4x12/9/6/6
DB Front Raises 4x10/8/6/6
DB Laterals / Plate Front Raises 4x10

Calves
Neck
Abs

PM:

Field day (45 min)
10 yard Agility warm-ups
Agility bags
Speed ladder
10’s
20’s
40’s

Thoughts: I had a couple of great workouts today despite a long day at school full of homework and studying. I could definitely tell that my RPM was carrying me through the workouts and focus today was great. I felt fast while doing my sprints and even felt a little lighter on my feet even though my weight has not changed. My endurance was also up today. I’m still excited for what’s to come and can’t wait to start seeing improvements in the weight room and on the field.

Day 3 (10/24/07)

Weight: 209 lbs
Mood/Focus: Focus was good again today despite being tired. I felt some aggression as well.
Strength: Strength was up today and leg pumps felt great.
Energy: I felt okay today but I was actually a little tired and sore today.

Workout:

AM:
Acceleration sprints on the treadmill (40-60sec rest in between sprints)
10min warm-up jog @ 7.5mph
3x20sec @ 10/11/12mph / 6% incline
3x20sec @ 10/11/12mph / 9% incline
3x15sec @ 10/11/12mph / 12% incline
3x10sec @ 10/11/12mph / 15% incline
Abs

PM:
Squats 5x5
Hack Squats 4x8
DB Stiff-legged Deadlift 4x10
Leg Extensions 5x12/10/8/6/4
Leg Curls 4x12/10/8/6
Barbell Curls 3x12/10/8
Hammer Curls 4x12/10/8/6
Calves

Thoughts: I felt pretty tired today but not too tired that I didn’t have good workouts. I am definitely thankful for the RPM. I felt strong today on legs and also felt good during my morning workout. I don’t know if the Drive has kicked in yet but I’m still sweating a ton during my workouts and body temp feels higher during the day. I was just soaking after my speed workout this morning. My weight is still the same which is good. I upped the carbs today a little extra just to make sure I’m replenishing my glycogen stores so that I don’t get too burned out. Looking forward to another good day tomorrow.

Day 4 (10/25/07)

Weight: 208 lbs

Mood/Focus: I was a little irritable today but focus in the gym was great.

Strength: I felt a little stronger today on back but no PR’s or anything.

Energy: I felt tired and sore when I woke up this morning but after my AM dose of Drive/RPM I felt great and had good clean energy the whole day.

Workout:

AM:

Field day (45 min)
10 yard Agility warm-ups
Agility bags
Speed ladder
10’s
20’s
40’s

PM:

DB Rows 4x10/8/6/4
Lat Pulldowns 4x12/10/8/6
Behind the Neck Pulldowns 3x12/9/6
Low Rows 4x10/8/6/6
Cable Concentration Curls 4x10

Thoughts: My weight has pretty much stayed the same so far but energy, endurance and strength have all gone up. I’m still sweating like a pig but not resting as long in between sets and I feel like I can go longer in the gym and on the field. I’m guessing it is going to take at least a week for the DRIVE to really kick in so I am just busting mine in the gym and being patient. Tomorrow I am going to do chest again and I’ll see if I can get 225 for 20 reps!

Day 5 (10/26/07)

Weight: 209 lbs

Mood/Focus: These were both good again today.

Strength: Strength is still about the same.

Energy: I felt a little lethargic today. I had to take a 30min nap this afternoon before my workout.

Workout:

AM:

Acceleration sprints on the treadmill (40-60sec rest in between sprints)
10min warm-up jog @ 7.6mph
3x20sec @ 11/12/13mph / 6% incline
3x20sec @ 11/12/13mph / 9% incline
3x15sec @ 11/12/13mph / 12% incline
4x10sec @ 11/12/13/14mph / 15% incline
Neck
Abs

PM:

DB Bench Press 5x12/10/8/6/4
Incline Press 4x10/8/6/6
Flat Flys 4x10
Weighted Dips 4x10/8/6/6
Triceps Pushdowns 4x10
Skull-crushers 4x10
Calves

Thoughts: I felt pretty good today except for the lethargy. I’ve been upping the carbs and I just hope I’m not overtraining and just burning up my glycogen stores and not doing enough to replenish them. I’m going to do a light leg workout tomorrow and get some good rest this weekend and hope that I have more energy next week.

Thoughts: I felt so good today it was almost unbelievable. I had a ton of energy/focus and my workouts were awesome. I think the Drive is starting to kick in now. I’ve had no negative side effects lately except for having the runs a few times. I think as long as I keep the dosing to 4 Drive and 4 Rpm a day I’ll be fine. I’m actually looking forward to legs tomorrow.

Thoughts: I felt pretty good again today and had a really solid shoulder workout. I felt faster again doing my sprints today and surprisingly I was not sore at all from my leg workout yesterday. I definitely fried my legs yesterday but recovery was very quick. I don’t know if it was the DRIVE but I’m not complaining.

I was pretty sore after my workout and I’m looking forward to going to bed tonight. I’m feeling pretty tired now.

Thoughts: I am sure glad that it is Friday although I do have quite a bit of studying to get in this weekend. I felt really great today and felt like I had a ton of energy while sprinting. I usually have to go vomit after my speed work on the treadmill but today I didn’t and actually felt like I had some extra energy so I did some more abs/core work. I’m loving this stack so far and I’m starting to really feel its effects.

Thoughts: I love college football Saturdays. Another win for the Cougars today and I had a couple of good sessions and felt pretty good. Energy wasn’t as good as it has been but it’s been a long week and I’ve been hitting the gym, field and books pretty hard this week. I’m looking forward to my day off tomorrow and I’m definitely going to take advantage of the opportunity to rest and let my body heal. I’m really liking the DRIVE/RPM combo and looking forward to getting some more PR’s in the gym this week.

Rest Day

Thoughts: Once again I am glad for a rest day, which is very much needed. The log is going good so far. I am a little worried about getting all of my workouts in this coming week because I have about 5 mid-term exams that I need to take. It is going to be a busy week so I am glad a get to rest up today and then get after it again tomorrow.

Thoughts: This week has been pretty rough. My wife is pregnant 7months pregnant and we had some doctors appointments and on top of that I had 5 mid-terms to study for and take as well as working part-time and going to class. I would definitely not be able to do all this without any RPM, lol. Seriously though I am loving this stack and will be back on track with my log this week. I have still been having great workouts and I can definitely say that strength, speed and body weight have all increased this week. I had a couple of great workouts and I am feeling great. I feel like I am getting in really good shape too.

Thoughts: I felt awesome today. My energy was way up and I felt super fast and quick today. I’m loving the DRIVE/RPM stack so far and haven’t had any real side-effects yet. I had an awesome chest workout today and pumps were definitely more noticeable than normal. Everyone in the gym tells me that I look bigger and bigger every time I come in. The people at the front desk always think I’m crazy for coming in twice a day and look at me like I’m nuts when I do my speed workout on the treadmill. I finally got 6 reps with the 120 lbs. dumbbells today for my last set. That’s a new PR! I’m looking forward to legs tomorrow.

Day 23 (11/13/07)

Weight: 213 lbs
Mood/Focus: I felt a lot of aggression today.
Strength: Good
Energy: I had a ton of energy in the gym.

Workout:

PM:
Squats 5x5/4/3/3/2
Hack Squats 4x8
DB Stiff-legged Deadlift 4x10
Leg Extensions 5x12/10/8/6/4

Thoughts: I didn’t have a lot of time today to get in two workout sessions because of time and work constraints. I chose just to go heavy on legs today and skip my speed workout until tomorrow morning. I’m definitely looking bigger and I can’t believe my weight is up to 213 lbs. I am so heavy and I feel super strong yet I’ve never felt quicker or faster than I have lately. I am pretty sore from chest yesterday and my hips and hams are sore from my field workout. I’m definitely loving this stack and my energy, which was increased today, has never felt so clean. I am making great gains yet don’t have any of the sides of a ph cycle. I recently added some watermelon Xtend to my supplement stack, and I think I’m hooked. I got it about a week ago and it’s definitely helping with recovery and I love the taste. I’m looking forward to getting a good treadmill workout in tomorrow before heading off to classes.

Thoughts: Today had to be one of the best days that I have had in a long time. I was crazy strong and I finally got a new PR for HANG CLEANS! 2x285 lbs.! I had tons of energy this morning for my speed workout about 45 min after taking my first dose of 3 RPM and 2 DRIVE. I was definitely faster today and my legs felt stronger too. I wasn’t even sore from yesterday’s heavy leg-day, which was crazy. I’m starting to run low on RPM/DRIVE, hint, hint, cough…dirk, and I’m hoping to keep this going till January. I’m going to test myself in a couple of weeks on 40 time and shuttle run and I’m hoping that my times have improved.

Thoughts: I had another good day today. I was down a couple of lbs. from the other day but weight is still up from where it was when I started. Energy was way good again today. Strength was about what it has been the last week and I felt pretty good overall today. For some reason I have never really been a huge fan of back workouts even though I frequently do them, but I just never really get into them like I do my other workouts. I had a great field day and my feet felt really quick today. I love the way I can work up such a great sweat when it’s ~65 degrees outside. I’m pretty sure it’s the DRIVE/RPM and I love it. I’m looking forward to another good chest day tomorrow.

Thoughts: I had a couple of awesome workouts again today. I didn’t necessarily get any new PRs but I wasn’t really going for any today. I felt great and got a huge rush of energy when I took my morning doses of RPM/DRIVE. I felt fast again sprinting and decided to push myself a little more today. I threw in a couple more sprints @ 15mph at a 15% incline. I felt great and recovery was quicker than usual after my speed workout. The guy at the front desk told me that I was “crazy” again. My chest workout was great and I wasn’t even sore from Monday’s workout. I’m looking forward to doing some footwork again tomorrow and frying my legs.

Thoughts: I love Saturdays. There is nothing like a Saturday when you can just go to the gym whenever you want not worrying about trying to fit it in between school and work and during my down time I get to take in some quality college football. My workouts were good today, but not quite as good as yesterday. My body definitely needs some rest tomorrow. I am feeling huge and vascularity has definitely increased this week. I probably have dropped a little fat since I have been sweating like a madman lately. I’m loving this stuff and I can’t wait until January.

Rest Day

Thoughts: It has been about 4 weeks now since starting this log and my weight is up a solid 5 lbs. I feel great pretty much all the time as far as mood and energy go, and I have also forgot to mention how great I have been sleeping at night. Every time I go to bed, as soon as my head hits the pillow I am out. I have loved the strength gains and I have more than a few new PRs. I look a lot bigger now and vascularity has also improved. The improvements that I am most pleased with though are the increase in speed and quickness as well as endurance. My workouts have been great and I feel faster than ever which has really been my main goal. I can’t wait to see what else I can improve before January.

Thoughts: I had another great workout today. I have been having awesome Monday workouts for the last couple of months and I always have a ton of energy. I had a good sprint workout this morning and by the time I got to my afternoon workout I was still feeling great and not even tired from my morning session. I felt very strong today on bench and so I threw a few extra sets in on some of my lifts. I had an awesome pump going to and I’m loving how much I have been sweating lately. The intense sweating just kicked in these last couple of weeks. I’m looking forward to a great leg day tomorrow.

Thoughts: I only had time for my pm workout today but I was at the gym for 2 hours so I guess it’s good enough. My legs felt great today and I felt strong again on squats. I really fried my hamstrings today and figured I would give them a little rest from the running and let them recover. My endurance was way up today and I felt the need to rest less in between sets. Once again I love the intense sweat that I get in the gym. I went on a jog with my wife today for about 4 miles and tomorrow I plan to do the same. I am getting myself ready for a 10k that we are going to run on Thanksgiving Day. Today was also a great day because I got the confirmation from Dirk about getting some more reinforcements. I’m anxious to see where I can get before practice starts up.

Thoughts: Happy Thanksgiving! Today was an awesome day and along with thinking about everything I have to be thankful for I sure enjoyed eating a ton of good food. We ran in a 5K this morning and then went and played some football. I was able to get a good workout in too before the feast started. I felt pretty good today until this evening when I feel like I’m going to explode from too much turkey and mashed potatoes. My energy level was definitely up today and mood was good too. I’m still loving the stack and hoping to hit some new PRs on the field and in the weight room this next week.

Thoughts: I feel so heavy today like I still have mashed potatoes stuck in my gut. Cardio was a little tougher this morning and I was pretty sore from my workout, the race and playing football yesterday. I still managed to get in a couple of good workouts today and I’m feeling pretty good now. Strength was up today and I had quite a bit of endurance during my evening workout. We are heading back home to Utah tomorrow so I’m looking forward to getting back to my home gym.

Mood/Focus: Good

Energy: I was pretty tired today.

Rest Day

Thoughts: This week has been pretty crazy with traveling and Thanksgiving and I am looking forward to getting back into my routine. The only problem is that I have 3 research papers due either this week or early next week. The semester is winding down and I have to make sure that I keep going strong with studying and also my training. I definitely love the focus that Drive/RPM gives me in the gym but I also love the added edge it gives me while studying. I can get about twice as much work done when I study in the morning after my first dose. I am grateful that I was able to rest up today because it’s going to be another long week.

Thoughts: My morning workout today was awesome. I had tons of energy and felt very fast. I wasn’t tired at all and my focus was pretty good. I didn’t really enjoy having to go back to work and class again today but I was able to make it through. I had to delay my PM workout until 10pm because of homework and studying. By the time I got to the gym I was pretty tired and feeling a little weak but was able to make it through. I think the problem was that I took my Drive/RPM at about 5pm and the effects had worn off by about 10pm and I was ready for bed. Well tomorrow’s schedule will be better and I’m hoping to fry my legs.

Thoughts: My legs were pretty sore today so I decided to switch up my routine a little and did back today and plan on doing legs tomorrow. I had a great workout and energy was way up today. I was way tired yesterday but today was great. I worked up an awesome sweat in the gym and fought the cold for my field workout. It was supposed to snow here today but it only ended up sprinkling a little bit and didn’t stick. I absolutely hate cold. I’m looking forward to heading home to Arizona for Christmas. Anyways, today was great and I love the results I’m seeing.

Cool beans.

I have to say, even though the last month has been the antithesis of BBing for me..ie eating way less, too much cardio, not lifting, ...I have been retaining a lot of muscle I think in part, because of daily Drive use. Lost about 8 pounds of fat and perhaps 2-3 of muscle...but those numbers very easily could be worse considering I was hiking like crazy at high altitude and not eating much.

Thoughts: I had another great day today and a couple of awesome workouts. I’m glad that I decided to do legs today. My energy wasn’t super high but it was good enough. I am not liking the cold weather here because it takes away some of my motivation. It’s a good thing I have Drive and Rpm to kick me in the butt every time that I don’t feel like going to the gym.

On another note I got some good news from my little bro. He is a junior in high school and plays cornerback/tailback. He is not too big and only weighs 150 lbs. He’s been asking me about supps since a lot of kids on his team are taking roids and others are sucked into the MuscleTech crap. He already eats pretty well and takes whey and creatine. He wanted to get some Cell-Crap from GNC but I talked him out of it and set him up with some Drive/RPM. He just started yesterday taking 2 rpm and 1 drive in the AM and Pre-workout. The good news is that he called me today and said that he got a new PR on bench. His max on bench last week was 185x2 and today he said that he got 185 for 6 reps and then he put up 205x2. He has already gained a pound of body weight.

Thoughts: Today was a pretty good day. I only had 3 Drive left in my bottle and finished it off today (1 in the AM and 2 pre-workout) so hopefully my reinforcements get here tomorrow. I still have a little more RPM left which will hopefully get me through if the Drive doesn’t arrive soon. I had pretty good energy today but strength wasn’t as great as it has been. I’ve been feeling a little sick and didn’t have a big appetite today so I felt a little weak from not eating as much. Nevertheless, I had a pretty good shoulder workout. I’m feeling swamped with school work and so this weekend will be stressful. I’m hoping I’ll make it through it okay and still be able to get some great training sessions in.

Thoughts: Today was a great day because I got some more Drive, RPM and even some Neovar in the mail. It’s always a good day when you get a package with supps in it. Thanks again Dirk! I had a couple of good solid workouts today and energy was great. I felt fast again today and clocked in a 40’ time of 4.66 sec, which is a new PR. I can’t believe the improvements I have made so far. I have definitely improved my quickness as well. I went pretty light on the weight today to give my chest some rest and my shoulder that I strained a little on Monday. I’m looking forward to some watching some college games tomorrow.

Thoughts: I had some good sessions as well today and energy was way up. It is so cold here now and we just got about 6” of snow last night and today. I hate it when its cold but I definitely worked up a great sweat in the gym. I started the Neovar today and I’m guessing it will take about a week for me to notice it’s effects. I felt strong today and recovery time between sets was decreased. Looking forward to some rest tomorrow and another awesome week.
