  2. So I ate a bowl of white rice. Measured a cup uncooked. Didn't finish it but got at least 2/3 down. First solid meal of the day. Not supposed to put salt or pepper or anything on it. Do you know how easy I'd have killed that with some louisiana hotsauce???

  10. Day 12

Really good news: haven't deuced yet today, & had couple scoops of isolate w/ gatorade & tolerated it well. Abdominal cramping isn't as bad today. Even had a few pieces of the gf's popcorn w/ some sierra mist while watching a movie & was g2g.

Went to the grocery & picked up some white bread, bananas, chicken breast. Just at 2 pieces of toast & some plain chicken breast. It was so good to eat protein again!

I think I'm on the turn around, gents. Weight was down again this morning, to 196.8 (from 203-204 sat). Time to get hammering on some white rice & chicken!

  15. Day 13

    I'm back on the stack!!!

I kept tolerating every meal I ate yesterday, & decided to push the envelope - last night at 5/8 of a pepperoni pizza. No issues. Woke at 199.8 feeling great today, & body no longer sore. Not having any issues. Movements are still liquid, but I'm going 1-2x/day like a normal person again. Didn't take a preworkout today, just my MST stack & trained on gatorade/bcaas after a solid breakfast (couple eggs, 6 oz chicken, 2 pc toast, banana) earlier today.

Picked up @superbeast668 near the airport in STL & we headed on over to this dirty, old-school, no-f#@ks-given gym in Overland called Eagle Gym. Threw the owner $10 for the both of us & he told us to have fun. Awesome time.

We did some max-effort benchpress & just felt it out as we went for everything thereafter. Spent 5-10 min warming up shoulders & then it was time to get crackin'. Haven't trained with a partner or without my ipod in a while, but the gym doors were open & the radio was going & nobody was in our way so it was about as good as it could possibly get!

    My work
    Benchpress 95x5, 135x5, 185x3, 225x2, 245x1, 275x1*assisted*, 265x1*paused off 2-board*, 245x3*assisted*, 225x3*pause/hold til commanded*
    SB's work
    95, 135, 185, 225x5 each I believe, 275x1, 315x1, 335x1, 365x1, 385xbomb think that's where he stopped
    CGBP 135x3 sets
V-bar Tri Pressdowns 5 sets each I think
Logpress 3 sets each probably, logweight +50 for the middle set & just log for other 2
    Bit of shoulder pump-work

All my work was done off my chest except the single 2-board press. I needed help on the 275 single & 245 triple (was only good for 245x2). Superbeast did a slow 4010 tempo on a lot of his bench work, especially the cgbp. He also was using the whole stack on pressdowns lol. This wasn't a super hardcore session; we were just lifting weights & shooting sh!t as we traded off between sets. More or less when one finished, the other started. Maybe 90 min or so if I had to guess. It was the kind of day that makes you realize why this can be such an enjoyable hobby - even if you didn't get anything out of it, you'd still do it because you're enjoying what you're doing, where you're at, & who you're doing it with.

Afterwards, we cruised over to Delmar & smashed some diner food at Fitz's bottling company - no joke, I ate a 1/4lb coney dog w/ a huge stack of onion rings. SB put this patty melt away like it was his job. Weather was great so we walked our dinner off for a bit before heading back home.

  16. I'll give it to hyde on 275.. If it was 274 he had it like no sh !t legit. He tracked off a little bit and hit that dead stop so I knew I had to put a little pressure on it. Wouldn't be shocked if he said he nailed 275+ in the meet.

His press command was 2-5 seconds on the paused benches. Pretty explosive for those kinda pauses.

Impressive lifts for fasted and sick though. Gotta give that credit. Didn't want to push my normal volume with his meet close and the illness.

Never seen a dude mow a hot dog like him especially covered in chili and fumunda cheese.. Not talking about dinner either. Ooh whammy. But no really he finished his dinner before me.. I still eat every cheat meal like it's my last...

For sure man. I wouldn't mind coming back down and doing that again. Pretty cool little area we ate in last night. The gym was like legit old school prototype equipment stacked deep. Pretty cool though.

Always welcome man, no joke. Shame you didn't have a bit more time here; I'd have taken you around Paris & shown you the paris-sights.

Anyway, today was kinda tough. Left outter quad started hurting on 2nd to last set of squat. No flippin' idea. Pissed about it but whatever. Hope I shake it off fine. Things usually pan out eventually.

    Tonight
    Squat 135x10, 225x3, 275x2, 315x2, 345x2, 375x2
    Deadlift w/ Light bands 135x10, 225x3, 315x2, 365x1, 385x1, 405x1 barweight (plus 80-85lbs tension at the top)

Went home. Everything was a bad idea with my quad acting up. Anyone who sucks on locking out, get a pair or mini or light bands. Screw rackpulls, this felt way more productive. If you don't move fast, it gets a LOT harder to lockout. Just like in real life - if you spend your sweet time grinding it up to your knees, how do you expect to have momentum to drive thru the top?

  20. Interesting on the band's. I've never considered that. As soon as my hamstring loosens back up, I'll be hitting deads with a lot more volume.
    SEMPER FI!!

Depends on goals. Bands are only really nifty if you're training explosive power in a movement, or you're looking for an advanced training stimulus for certain muscles. Like using them on bodybuilder squats so you can overload the quads w/ more weight. Legpress is actually very ideal for using bands. A lot of John Meadows training programs involve them for hypertrophy purposes too. You can put them on preacher curls, tri extensions, a lot actually - if you have the right length/resistance for your needs. Micro minis, minis, & light bands are usually all you want. Even an average band is pretty serious, & above that it's purely for plyed gear powerlifting.

Straight weight can go a long way though too.
  22. Day 15

Buddy came home from the army, for good finally. Met up with another buddy. We were gonna go do some strongman training at the gym I took SB to but it's outside and it rained so we stayed here at the healthclub & did upper back w/ a splash of tris. Walked over to the sandwich shop afterwards for the postworkout goodness. Also, been eating chicken breast & jasmine rice like it's my job today

    Today

    Widegrip Pulldowns 100x15, 140x12, 160x10, 180x8, 7
Closegrip D-Handle Low Cable Rows 120x15, 160x12, 180x10, 200x10 (last set performed as Catback Rows)
    Widegrip Mid HS Rows 2pps x10, 3pps x10, 9, 10 ds 2pps x10+6 pause
    Underhand Narrowgrip Pulldowns 140x14, 180x8, 160x10
    Straightbar Tri Cable Pressdowns 50x15, 65x15, 75x12, 12, 11, 10, 10, 10

Rests very short today, we just kept rotating between the 3 of us. Good pump by the 2nd exercise, it was efficient and fairly brutal - had to bust out some Lamb of God for motivation by the time I hit the HS rows.
  23. Day 16

    Off-day.

Hopefully going swimming/grilling w/ some friends.

Workouts are basically over til the meet. 30% practice on the big 3 monday & thursday, & working up to a 70% single on bench weds. No workout, no scheduled exercise - deload for meet. Boresville.

We ended up with the staples - burgers, brats & dogs. Lotta *young* mouths to feed at this gathering. Brats were off the chain. I had more sausage today than a truckstop lot-lizard. I'm 207 right now before I go to bed; calories on calories. Chinese coleslaw, veggies, baked potatoes, corn on the cob, fruit salad, lava cake, cookies, ice cream, sweet tea. But I swam a while, so I needed the fuel

This is probably it til after weigh-ins; it'll be all clean with moderate carbs next 2 days & depending on how much weight I'm dropping I might be able to keep carbs in weds or even thru thursday with any luck as I deplete down some.

Ended up doing a mini pump-up for a 5-10min circuit before we left. Curls, tri extensions & kickbacks, arnolds & raises, the simple light dbell staples if you had only 5 min to make the biggest difference. Holy cow felt like I carried the pump all afternoon, couldn't believe it. I said it once, I'll say it again - this is some pretty quality agmatine. For some reason, the agmatine smells really bad. But it's good stuff!
