Height: 5' 10"
Weight: between 232 and 237 lbs
Age: 42

Weight training style: Compound exercise with volume
Cardio style: 60-70 minutes on elliptical
Sports: Currently playing Volleyball (1 night per week - 2 hours), Tennis (varies), Softball (1 game per week)
Job: Office job where I rarely move out of my seat.

Supplements:
Licogenix (Athletix)

Introduction:
I am down about 30 lbs since beginning of this year using various supplements (Erase Pro, Agmatine, Lipo PM, OEP, AT2, Fat Free, Prometheus Rising), good diet and exercise. I have been wanting to go back on Erase Pro since I went off it 4 1/2 weeks ago after an 8 week run. I make a lot of changes with my supplements and I am willing to forego any remaining tabs/caps to find a better solution.

I will never bad mouth a supplement in most cases. If I don't see results, it could be due to many things. Diet type, exercise type/duration, amount of sleep, amount of other supplements I am taking,...etc. However, even if I don't see results, I do expect to see some effect to at least know that it is trying to work - such as appetite suppression, sweating, acne,...etc)

Why Licogenix and Why now ?
Reason 1 - I am trying Licogenix, because you can't beat the price. Don't get me wrong. I don't mind paying $60+ for supplement that works. However, I would be stupid to turn down a replacement that works in the same way that is half the price. I can spend that $30 on several pints of Guiness....I mean on a good nutricious salad.

After seeing several good reviews on Licogenix, I had to see it for myself.

I have contemplated on my logs on when to start Licogenix and at what dose. I wanted to try 6 caps right away. I also thought about waiting a bit longer.

Reason 2 - I am pissed off at the current stall in weight loss. I have been between 232 and 235 for about 2 weeks now. I HAVE NOT LOST ENOUGH TO FEEL COMPLACENT AND I AM STILL ONLY 1/2 WAY TO MY GOAL. THIS IS NOT ACCEPTABLE. I have not changed anything and I probably need some variety. I was going to wait 2 more weeks.......well "F" it. I am going to start 4/15.

I will not be on any supplements for about 3 days before I start Licogenix. From that point forward, I will be on Licogenix only for 30 days at 4 caps per day. I feel that this mini washout will get rid of any remaining supplements in my system and I also feel that I could probably use a mini break from those supplements I have been taking anyway.

I will post workout and diet on Sunday. Pictures as well to set a baseline.

Workout and diet will be similar to what I have been following for the last 3 months for easy comparison - to guage strength and weight loss

Please join me. Any feedback and support can only make this log a useful one.

Day 1 (4/15)

Weight:
235.0 lbs

Supplements:
2 Licogenix capsules with food x 3 meals (6 caps total)

Diet:
Calorie deficit

Exercise:
HS Incline Press 11 x 8 (90, 180, 230, 270, 270, 270, 270, 270, 270, 270, 320 lbs)
HS Incline Press 1 x 16 (360 lbs x 4 reps, strip down, 180 lbs x 12 reps)
Dumbbell Curls 10 x 8 (30 lb dumbbells for all 10 sets)
Machine Chest Flyes 10 x 8 (140 lbs for all 10 sets)

Comments:
Here we go. I am going to try to not get too wordy with my comments. However, some introductory comments are appropriate. I decided to go with 6 caps right off the bat. Why ? I am only running this for 30 days and I want to see what this dose does for me. It is the dose everybody had said they felt the increased effect with as far as vascularity (prob not a word) is concerned.

For the initial entry for the HS Incline Press and Machine Shoulder Press, I have bolded a number that will be the benchmark for measuring strength. If for some miracle, I can do 8 clean reps, I will go up in weight. That would be a welcome deviation. I chose these 2, because they are 2 exercises I feel that I can give an honest effort with out cheating. I no longer go heavy on back exercises or legs, because I am old enough where past injuries may creep up. Knock on wood, I have never has a tear or serious chest, shoulder, or arm injuries to date.

I have sort of become a elliptical freak while losing weight this year, so you will see a lot of entries for cardio elliptical. That maybe something others may not do that may help or hinder any gains.

My shoulder and back routines are similar to the chest routine above. I usually don't work legs or arms. I do try to include arms in one of the chest, shoulder or back lifting days. Luckily I have been blessed with good genetics for legs and a lot of squatting and dead lifts I have done when I was younger helped me maintain it. If I start working them, it will blow up and I won't be able to fit into my work clothes.

I also play sports. This is to let you know my current activity level. Volleyball and Softball played once a week.

My diet is pretty clean. My goal is to stay clean with inclusion of 2 cheat meals. My cheat meals will be documented, so you can see what I ate. During the week, my diet is full of fiber due to this wonderful bar made by Quest (18 grams per serving). I also always have a salad for lunch with greens, peppers, kidney beans or chick peas and chicken. Sometimes I add 2-3 pieces of pineapple. My dinner is very much low carb. Veggie is almost always broccoli or asparagus. More often than not broccoli. The protein is usually chicken and on occasion - red meat. I will include cheat meals on weekends, although if I for some reason cheat during the week, I will remove a weekend cheat meal. The cheat meal is usually pasta with calamari or pho - vietnamese noodle dish or controlled serving of mexican food. Maybe one small piece of dessert for taste. I will not eat a steak, meatballs, pizza, hamburgers,...etc. Only time that I may do so is if I am out with a client and I don't have any other options. I try to nurse it in those occasions and usually do not eat a full serving.

I have been able to follow this diet all year and it has not been difficult yet to maintain. Thank God I have a girlfriend who understands what I am trying to do. Also, luckily, she started her journey earlier and I only hope to make same type of gains or have her determination.

This routine with supplements I listed in the first post has allowed me to lose 2-3 lbs per week until I lost 30 lbs total. However, progress weight loss wise has stopped.

OK, that's the skinny. Don't worry, I won't be writing this much in my daily updates. However, I do welcome any critiques as I tend to write a lot sometimes when I am really passionate about a topic.

Any comments for today ? What am I looking for with Licogenix and what are some effects that show that it is working ?

Weight Loss - Will be measured weekly and I will comment on each weigh in day.
Muscle separation - I will comment as needed, at minimum weekly
Vascularity - I will comment as needed, at minimum weekly
Libido- I will comment weekly
Strength - Will be measured weekly via workout logs versus bolded baseline in week one.
Workout Energy - I will comment daily
Normal Energy -I will comment daily

That is my schedule. However, at any point you have a question about progress, I will be sure to reply to you.
I may also have ancillary comments on any item.

Comments (4/15):

Muscle separation - My upper chest to shoulder separation is getting better.
Vascularity - I pretty much have no vascularity. If I see veins at the end of this run, then Licogenix would have surpassed my expectations.
Strength - Strengh today was same as it has been last couple weeks. So it serves as a good baseline.
Workout Energy - I was full of energy. Between sets, I was throwing the medicine ball around and hitting the punching bag. Really had no more than 15-20 seconds of rest between sets.
Normal Energy - My energy level today was normal although I was a bit tired midday after being out in the sun for an hour.

Little warm today in the office. Does Licogenix give thermogenic effects ? Something to monitor and maybe add to my daily comments.
Or it could just be weather getting warm and office environmental system not adjusting fast enough. Hmmmm.

Thanks hvac. I read your log as well. I think the first group of reviewers (including yourself) of Licogenix really did it justice by providing amazing details with their reviews. Those reviews inspired me to give it a shot over something that already has worked well for me - Erase Pro.

LOL...Thanks !

I deleted it. I can't make it look the way I want it to. Gotta spend some time with it. The second bottle was ordered today. Nutraplanet is pretty fast, so if it has not been processed yet, it will be pretty soon.

Day 2 (4/16)

Supplements:
2 Licogenix capsules with food x 3 meals (6 caps total)

Diet:
Calorie deficit

Exercise:
Cardio eliptical - 1,220 calories
Machine Shoulder Press 11 x 8 (70, 100, 130, 160, 160, 160, 160, 160, 160, 160, 180 lbs)
Machine Shoulder Press 1 x 12 (200 lbs x 6 reps, strip down, 100 lbs x 6 reps)
Machine Side Laterals 10 x 8 (60 lbs for all 10 sets)
Volleyball - 5 on 5 (1 hour and 45 minutes)

Comments:

Muscle separation - My shoulders still feel solid and so do my arms. About 5 hours has passed since lifting.
Vascularity - No visible changes yet.
Strength - Slight increase in strengh for shoulder press. I usually get 4 reps at 200 lbs and today I got 6 clean reps. This will be my baseline for shoulders.
Workout Energy - I had normal energy during elliptical, but I was sweating like crazy. Yes everyone. Thermostat hit 91 today. At no point did I feel tired and I was able to put in a very productive session. After cardio and lifting, I still had good energy for volleyball.
Normal Energy - I stopped Lipo PM little less than a week ago. Towards the end of the run (40 or so days ?), I was having trouble staying awake in the afternoons. This was an opposite effect of when I first took Lipo PM. (Reminder....Lipo PM is good, but I need to cycle it) The wash out has done some good as my midday energy is back to normal and I do not feel like falling asleep.
Libido - No noticeable change. Did not see anyone worthwhile that would trigger a response.
Joint Pains - None
Skin - Feels dry and no signs of acne so far.

I feel drained and I love it. Nothing like a long workout day at the gym. Reminds me of when I use to landscape. I led a crew of front lawn cutters when I was younger - With push mowers, we started at dawn and mowed until 5 PM. I love the smell of cut grass !

Onto tomorrow.

Day 3 (4/17)

Supplements:
2 Licogenix capsules with food x 3 meals (6 caps total)

Diet:
Calorie deficit

Exercise:
Cardio elliptical - 1,149 calories

Comments:

Muscle separation - Only cardio today, so I do not feel any noticeable pump. No real difference in mirror either.
Vascularity - No visible changes yet.
Strength - No lifting, so no comment.
Workout Energy - I had normal energy during elliptical and again I sweated like crazy. It seems like I sweat mostly during the first 15 minutes and then taper down.
Normal Energy - I had a great night of sleep and felt great all day. This bodes well for summer !!! Good times !
Libido - OK, it was beautiful all day, but I was stuck inside most of the day. I did go to the mall to pick up some shoes and noticed that the ladies feel the warm weather. Short dresses and legs everywhere. My senses were definitely heightened. I do have to say that my libido is always high mentally and this is not PCT, so I am not trying to recover my T-level.
Joint Pains - None.
Skin - Feels good with no sign of break out.

I guess this is the week of getting Licogenix in the system. I fully expected this and I look forward to results showing in the 3rd and 4th week of this run. Anything prior is definitely a plus.

Do I have any other measurable goals for this run ? Well supported by Licogenix, I hope to lose about 10 lbs. Losing 10 lbs would have gotten me past the sticking point of 230 lbs and should rejuvenate my body and mind to race towards 200 lbs. I won't be disappointed if I do not lose 10 lbs as long as I see signs of recomposition. Strength increase or decrease in waist size while maintaining weight will be totally acceptable. I am not going to measure my waist since when you measure makes a lot of difference. Waist size is so influenced by bloating which I tend to get sometimes. I was wearing size 42 pants at the beginning of this year and before starting my run. OK, when your pants look MUCH wider than its long, you may have a weight problem !!!!!! When you lay out your pants on the bed and it resembles a square, you may have a weight problem !!!!!!

I currently wear size 36 pants comfortably. If I feel comfortable at size 34 at the end of this run, I will be ecstatic. If I have to belt down my size 36 pants so it does not fall off, I will be happy with that as well.

Onto tomorrow.

Damn, sorry about that. Did not have a lot of space. That is 360lbs on hammer strength incline (4 plates a side). Much easier than straight 360lbs bench. I will edit the table.

I thought about doing this for a while as sometimes it is not as easy tracking overall progress looking through each daily entry. Took me a week to get the table to format correctly.

Day 4 (4/18)

Supplements:
2 Licogenix capsules with food x 3 meals (6 caps total)

Diet:
Calorie deficit

Exercise:
Cardio elliptical - 1,200 calories
Straight Arm Pulldowns 10x8 (50, 60, 60, 60, 60, 60, 60, 60, 60, 60 lbs)
Hammer Strength Rows 10x8 (90, 140, 140, 140, 140, 140, 140, 140, 140, 140 lbs)
Front Pulldowns 10x8 (80 lbs for all 10 sets)

Comments:

Muscle separation - Hmmmm....muscles look fuller and slight definition showing near shoulders and chest.
Vascularity - I am seeing veins on my arms during workout. More than usual. This is not a huge change as during workouts, my veins do show themselves. However, I am seeing many more smaller ones. During the day, I am seeing those green lines more prominently.
Strength - I felt strong and at no time had to struggle to put up the weight. I may need to challenge myself next week. However, keeping good form is key as I am going more for pump when I work my back, since I am usually one tweak away from my back giving out.
Workout Energy - Good energy throughout. Energy has not been a problem yet. I expected to struggle a bit as this is my 4th straight workout and 3rd straight day of cardio. Energy issues today ????? No sir.
Normal Energy - I stayed up watching baseball and ended up only sleeping for 4 hours. No crash until about 4 PM. Did not sleep and ate something and went straight to gym. Haven't felt sleepy since. I see long sleep sessions in my calendar this weekend. Stay away cortisol !
Libido - Without being too graphic, I feel fuller and get a nice HARD greeting in the AM. Yoga class today and I enjoyed the parade very much. I tried my best not to stare too long.
Joint Pains - None.
Skin - Normal.

As I continue to load on Licogenix, I am beginning to see glimpse of what Licogenix is about. I am not going to get too excited here. I need more data. I will continue to post observations, but the key now is week 1 weigh in and picture comparison. I do leave every morning with a smile on my face after seeing myself in the mirror.

NOTE: Post #3 contains the spreadsheet and pictures for comparison. I will keep those there and update them as needed. Picture comparison weekly will also be added there. This is for those who want a quick visual rather than reading through the posts.

Onto tomorrow.

Sounds a lot like what I am getting from Licogenix as well. Libido has finally started to slow down after 2 weeks, although I may just be getting worn out by the wife lol. I see a lot more veins too, which is good for me since I'm 300lbs+.

That's good to hear cubsfan. I've been reading your log as well. Just could not find a right point to add a comment.

Your avatar...is it recent ? You don't look bad for 300+. I didn't hey my shoulder arm separation until only recently. Good luck on your run. I will make a point to stop by.
