Hi, I need some advise. I accidentally hit the sciatic nerve while injecting wistrol in my butt (yeah I went too low). It happened almost 4 weeks ago. At the beginning I couldn't move my leg, and the pain was killing so I went to the ER and they gave me some pain killers. The leg is fine now but the pain and burning had concentrated on my foot. I cant even sleep at night because of the pain. I am also limping. I went to the neurologist and he gave me GABAPENTIN 300Mg and send me home. Obviously I don't think is nerve damage coz my leg is fine.

How long does it take for the pain and burning to go away? any recommendation on treatments? has anyone experimented the same? please help!

You probably do have nerve damage; that's why you have pain in a sciatic distribution. As far as if and how long it will take to heal, who knows, hopefully it will.

This is what I found, this topic is interesting as it seems to be happening often, and I cant imagine how painful it was, I hope it gets better-------------------------check this link:Sciatic nerve injury from intramuscular inj... [Int J Clin Pract. 2010] - PubMed - NCBIwhen you hit the nerve, did you proceed with the injection or the pain was immeadiate? one of my friends said he tried to inject and he felt a pain and then he fell. I am not sure if it as the sciatic nerve tho, he said the pain was temporary only. Good luck and I hope it gets better

I hurt that nerve 2 years ago while playing with my kids. At first it was a horrible pain in the butt. The next morning i couldn't walk. I had a lot of pain in the right knee and my shin and quad were cramping all the time. I took injectable antiinflamatories and muscle relaxants. Also i went to physical therapy for about a month daily. My right thigh is about an inch smaller than the left and it cramps up pretty often. I think that i will have it for ever. I hope you are luckier than me.

Also i couldn't sleep for the first week because of the pain.

I have nerve damage down my left leg from a combination of auto accident injuries. I've had several back surgeries, with the possibility of another one this summer. Been through Norco and Valium addiction and withdrawal, that was loads of fun...one year and one month clean. Now they have me on 600mg of gabapentin, 5 times a day for a total of 3000mg! I have no idea if it's even helping because I'm in varying degrees of pain every day and it SUCKS.

Been trying to stay active, but lifting the way I used to is not happening. I've been reduced to using rubber bands and trying to be creative.

So, after my own sob story, I guess my question is were you honest with the ER and other Docs about how you hurt it? If so, the specialist certainly should have a better answer for you than gaba! Good luck. I hope you find relief soon. There is no possible way for anyone to know what you are going through if they've not felt it for themselves.
