    female looking for quality resources

Hi! My girlfriend is 31 and suffers from hypothyroidism. She is currently taking synthroid and has been tossing the idea of steroid use around for a while since she has a really hard time losing any weight. Right now she's 200 and can't break below this. So, could anyone help us out and point us to some good resources that cover female use while dealing with hypothyroidism, if possible? Appreciate any help we can get. Thanks! Love the site.

Steroids will just make her fatter.

Diet an exercise will make her skinny.

Hypo/hyper, well then she's gonna have to eat a little cleaner and exercise a little harder than a normal healthy person.

If you think she's eating clean, an working out 1-2hrs 5-6 days/week an can't loose weight, don't let her fool you, she's sneaking in some little Debbie snack cakes somewhere.

You and I both know this may not be the case man.

Other underlying issues insufficient calories along with hypothyroid or excess calories

    Look into blood work.

Full thyroid panel that includes thyroid binding globulin and pre albumin along with free t3/4 and rt3

Stress generally raises rt3 and may negate the effects of a decent t3 reading

yea, but it isn't as humorous. gotta get all serious on us.

ultimately what it comes down to seriously, is this isn't a place to be seeking that kind of advice. the doctor is where you'd want to discuss this issue.

steroids aren't magic, and they will also negatively impact her thyroid.
