Complications from GEAR...What type of Doctor do we go and see?

Without going into detail the title is pretty self explanatory. I understand for blood work you can go to any regular Doctor but what about questions/issues that are GEAR related? (Steroids/SERMS what have you). Is a Sports Medicine Doctor who specializes in Internal Medicine one you would speak to about the stuff you've taken and the issues you're having? Or is there a different type of doctor that is recommended to see? I just want to make sure I go to a Dr. that knows his/her stuff about the crap I've taken and I'm experiencing.

If any of you have gone to a doctor because of your anabolic use (in any capacity) that's not your family/personal physician, please chime in and let me know as it would be GREATLY appreciated. Thank you.

I'm not certain, but perhaps some type of anti-aging clinic may be your best bet. Most doctors don't seem to condone steroid use, so I'd think finding one would be difficult.
Are you wanting to use insurance? Often times insurance companies will drop people if a doc notes steroids in the chart.

I wonder if my doctor would prescribe pharma grade AIs if I told him I never plan to stop using illegal steroids?

I see it as "harm reduction", shouldn't they have to do it?

Besides, I can't get high off anastrozole, now can I?

I went to my regular doctored about steriods and a lump behind my nip...he pretty much said stop taking steriods they fry your tedticles and if you stop the lump will go away. 3 years later the lump was still there I had surgery. I recommended a specialist. I havent taken steriods since the operation but Even recently when I went to get bloodwork done at a new doctore he pretty much questioned me if I'm on steriods and when I told him no its been a long time he still didn't believe me snd asked how how i keep my size then...complete ****in idiot! I get the impression that if a doc thinks you use steriods they treat you different or speak down on you! ...that's my opinion anyway I'm sure there may be done good doctors....but maybe someone that specializes in that area, maybe even ask around if you know anyone that takes steriods if they can refer someone to you. Pretty much I found out more on here then the doc could tell me plus my surgeon wax quite helpful aswell!

    Doctors=normal people with medical degrees

Sure, they are smart, no doubt, but all social stigmas still apply to them; they watch the news, gossip with friends and watch ****ty movies.

    Very sad.

I always thought doctors were more open-minded, since you would think they have a very thorough understanding of science.

Yeah, this is the kind of stuff I'm worried about. I mean this is our body. They have no problem treating drug addicts but when it comes to steroids it's all of a sudden a red flag and we're the scum of the earth? It's ridiculous.

Fortunately, I remembered that one of my friends is a doctor and she recommended me an endocrinologist who specializes in hormones and metabolism. These guys have had to have seen it all since they deal directly with hormones. I'm hoping this guy (when I make an appointment) will be cool since my friend is going to speak to him directly about seeing me. Since I messed with my test and estrogen (Letro) my hormones are all out of wack so I'm sure I'll get both male and female panel bloods done and then hopefully from there he can help straighten me out. I'm nervous but I'm anxious to see what he says. My friend is going to speak to the Dr. on Monday. For those interested I'll post results when I get em.

I actually asked him for something like nolvadex at the time and he said ' well me putting my doctors hat on il have to say no, it's not good to fight something caused by drugs with drugs' .

    I could have chocked him!

After I had the surgery 3 years later I should have gone back to the doc and thrown the glands on his table like thanks for the advise cockhead!

But then again I have a mate and his doctor would prescribe him test, sus250. But yes if I had my time again I would look for someone that specializes in that area, so all the best to OP!

HAHAHA did he really say that? Don't they typically do this? It's what all pharma companies want. You take a drug and you fight the side effects with another drug and so on and so on.

Thank you. I hope this Dr. can help me.

Heroin overdose, and naloxone could save their life? No, not a good idea, let them die.

Back in April I ran Anavar for 8 weeks 50mg and the last week up to 80mg. Ran PCT with Tamoxifen Citrate at 40/20/20/10, ICF-1, Intimidate, and then Anabeta Elite. I didn't run an AI because everything I read said Anavar doesn't aromatize. Well after the cycle I started to notice some soreness in my right nipple. Then the tissue started to build a built and eventually it began to harded some. I researched how to reverse the gyno and so I purchased Letro in November of last year. There were issues with shipping and I was going back and forth with this company and finally got the crap in January. Took the letro Jan 2nd and stopped it Feb 9th after complete libido shut down when I had an incident with a girl (I knew what I was getting myself into but it really got to me). I wanted my dick back. So I tapered down and started taking the Citrate to prevent rebound. Lump became slightly harder/bigger because of the rebound. I'm now thinking that my SERM was bunk from the jump which I somewhat suspected when I got the lump. My hormones are all jacked up now.

Hey op I read your thread in the pct section. Don't let my story turn you off, a doc has the power to def help, just depends what doc you get, that's why if you know someone they can refer a descent doc may be very helpful.

Go to your doc, tell him you want to be referred to an endo. If that doesn't work, change your PCP and try again.

Yeah, my doctor friend recommended me an Endo whose supposed to be really good. She said he may be booked until April but she's gonna speak to him Monday to try and get me squeezed in ASAP. Fingers crossed.

Thank you all for your responses. It's a shame to see that when people are in need of help, regardless of what they may have taken, these doctors want nothing to do with you and you get written up in your chart like Elaine Benes in Seinfeld.

Well the good thing is, your body revolves around something called homeostasis. It will return to normal.

And for those who say they had to be on testosterone replacement therapy for the rest of their life after an AAS cycle, research HCG injections and Dr. Michael Scally.

No damage can be undone. Unless you inject test for like 3 years.

Just a quick followup. My friend pulled through and got me an appointment next week with the Endo. I'm nervous but I'm also very excited about this. I hope I didn't do too much damage and he can help get me back to homeostasis. I'll keep everyone updated after my appointment.

Hey, from what I've noticed (through personal experience) honesty goes a long way with a doc. If you find a good one, he should be impartial to what you've done in the past and focus on fixing what is broken. Let him know (after you break the ice and get a little comfortable) what you did and where you stand right now and he/she will be more able to treat you correctly and efficiently. This doesn't just apply to your current situation, but just think, if you broke your ankle jumping off a roof you wouldn't tell the doc that it happened while you were sleeping, right?
    My $.02.

I agree 100%. I plan on telling him everything. I'm even going to tell him about the "natural" test-boosters and other supplements I've used in the past because who knows what that stuff may have done if anything. I'd rather be completely upfront with him so he can see what I exactly put in my body. Obviously those labels aren't exactly accurate but he can at least get an idea of what I've taken so it can better help him which will in turn help me get back to normal. Thanks again everyone for all your comments and input.

You may want to talk to a bodybuilder who is steroid savy. Doctors do not know what to do in most cases, they never done cycles or used steroids.
To top that off you talking about about stuff you took that maybe wasnt real or what you took didnt know what it was.
You cant treat issues properly that you dont know what's causing them. I see you took a bunch a stuff after the anavar...do you know what those things were?

Im not trying to bust your chops just pointing out certain things I see

Regardless of what he put in his body, as long as everything is cleared and his endo runs an all inclusive hormone panel, the endo will have a good base from which to start treatment. Nothing against steroid savvy bodybuilders, but if you have the opportunity to get treated by a doctor who can have hands on time with you, I don't see why you would seek assistance elsewhere (unless of course the treatment you were receiving from said doctor was inadequate and ineffective). An endo's job is to regulate hormones. If he or she is good, their treatment should be sufficient.

Obviously you havent been to an endo. It's not that simple.
THe issue is that when someone does a steroid cycle and takes whatever compounds it affects the body in many ways.
On the other hand, when something in the body doesnt work let's say naturally it's not as pronounced as steroids. Docs are not trained to look for all these hiden problems. They do a pretty basic check up.
I have been to this doctor for many years on HRT and NEVER did he check for estrogen. He said that it shouldnt be high because test levels are within range. So as you see there you have it, that's you top of the line endo for you..lol
Fortunately, I know my shieet so I dont need him to know all this stuff but not everybody are steroid savy.
I understand where you come from with your statement, but if you ask a bunch of ppl about their endo you will get more horror stories than anything. Once in a while someone will get lucky with a good endo but not that often.

I'm on TRT right now. I've been to an endo. Thank you, come again. But you're right, most docs don't know shlt. That's why I go to my barber to cast my broken bones.

Wrong... You just have to do some research and not listen to things like this. I'm not being a dick but this is how people get fu**ed up.

Yes it is hard and yes lots of docs are idiots but I'd listen to a doc with a 400k education than a "savvy" guy who does no blood work, has no medical background, has not studied the human body, and probably has taken less than his fair hate of biology classes.

    Come on man....

And one more thing, if your intelligence level keeps you seeing the same doc for years, after he had repeatedly failed you, you only have room to grow. Good luck though.

To the op, if letro didn't reverse your gyno then the only thing a doc is going to be able to do is cut the lump out. There is no other special treatment that I'm aware of other then surgery at this point. If that's not something your wanting to do then I suggest you try one more round of letro or live with a lump for the test of your life. It's not going to go away on its own. Your libido and test levels should recover eventually. But that lump is here to stay unless you get it removed or the letro works. I would get some pharmacy grade letro to be certain it's dosed correctly. Research chems are hit and miss unless you have a trusted source that you can rely on.

    Bro give me a break!
Did your endo ever bother to fully check why you have a tesotsterone deficiency? OR you were just happy that you got a script?
Do you know why you have a testosterone deficiency?

Most doctors have a problem towards drug addicts and are very hostile towards them.

Many doctors are also drug addicts.

Doctors are douches but sometimes they save lives.

I have low test because I have low test. Believe it or not, it happens. All other hormone levels are well within the normal range. I have a vitamin d deficiency (which could be the culprit but it's unlikely), and that's being treated via 50,000iu capsules once weekly. I have no tumors or growths and no irregular readings which would explain low test, other than vitamin d and age.
Was I "just happy I got a script"? The answer is "no". Feeling like your body isn't adequate isn't all that fun. Conversely, I am hopeful that this will aid in making my overall day better.
Not all docs are as crappy as yours sounds. I had all-inclusive panels run prior to even discussing treatment options, and my doc was very insightful. I think you just got unlucky.

Yes it is hard and yes lots of docs are idiots but I'd listen to a doc with a 400k education than a "savvy" guy who does no blood work, has no medical background, has not studied the human body, and probably has taken less than his fair hate of biology classes.

    Come on man....
I know what you saying bro but a 400k education doesnt make you smarter and this is not directed at you personally but obviously he didnt do his research one way or another. He really never understood what the heck he was doing from the get go nor he does now.
All these PHs and steroids some of you do it's all fine and dandy until shieet goes wrong then run over to doctors like little girls to get fixed up because you cant deal with reality of being shut down and the side effects which could have easily been avoided.
Really? Do the fukking research and understand the consequences before you plunge into anabolics thinking it's candy. If you shut down the doctor will give you testosterone replacement therapy and what some of you want is a shoulder to cry on and someone to hold you hand through the process . Pls let's grow up people
People get ****ked up because they choose to take anabolics that's why and have no knowledge to figure their way out of it, period!

And this is a lesson to be learned for anybody who wants to do steroids or PHs, if you dont have a plan B then dont bother geting involved with this shieet. Doctors will not fix you up but patch you up at best and send your arse out the door.

For the original poster, hope you have $5k to get surgery because that's the only way to fix your lump. And btw the reason you felt crappy is that the letro was working and basically killed your estrogen, hence no sex drive. Im sure the endo will set you straight
    Good luck

Listen, we all get into heated arguments but at the end of the day we all here to learn and share experiences then we shake hands and move on.
Reason I know a little bit about steroids is that I've been on them for 15 years and that was my choice.
    Reps for you bro
