20 year old looking for advice (high estro/prolactin after propecia usage)

hey there guys.

I'm not really a hardcore bodybuilder, but I hope I can post this here:

I'm 20 years old and was on propecia (finasteride for hairloss) for about 4-5 months. After I noticed that my left breast was enlarged, i quit. After that horror began.

My libido is down, I'm depressed all the time, am tired (including some VERY strong dark circles under the eyes), demotivated, and of course the breast is still enlarged.

So i want to do something about it. Hairloss sucks, but having a hormonal chaos at 20 sucks even more. Here an overview about my blood works:

250kb.de/u/091017/g/3897cce0.gif

Some people also said I may be hypothyroid. So maybe doing something against the high prolactin/estrogen may be a mistake in first place?

Unfortunately I do not have any endo's / specialists in my area.

You need to go see a doctor immediately....

Hopefully what has happened to you is not what Dr. Crisler is talking about in this video:

YouTube- Broadcast Yourself.

That video (Crisler is legit) along with some "horror stories" I read online regarding finasteride is why I chose not to touch it.

Don't want to scare you, there very well be something that you can do to correct the issue.

BTW: You might want to contact Dr. Crisler. I've heard of people sending him their blood test results and whatnot and him offering advice remotely to either you or your local physician. Like I said, he is legit, and you can read on forums about people flying across the country just to visit his office.

First of all, I'm from europe, so seeing dr. chrisler is not possible for me.

However, I do not have ED or something like it. I do suffer from the side effects listed in the first post but do not want to start out being hypohondric (hope I spelled it right).

Like I said, he can consult you remotely. Many people do travel to visit him because of his reputation, but you don't necessarily have to see him in person to get help from him: All Things Male - Center for Men's Health

Regardless, this isn't the kind of thing you should be getting help with by random people on the internet. You need to talk a specialist. If there are none in your area then it sounds like you need to do a bit of traveling.

He also posts on various forums. You might be able to get some advice from him for free: Official Finasteride Thread - MuscleChatRoom.com

You need professional medical help... Really, we could offer some suggestions do reduce prolactin levels, but that doesnt compare to the help you would receive from a specialist.. Sorry if there are none near you, go travel to see one, your body is worth it...

People here have been taking oral Testosterone, reduce estrogen and prolcctin orally... I'm really wondering why people see propecia almost more dangerous than that?

Thanks for that.

Just wondering, why do people see propecia as such dangerous while taking arimidex, oral testosterone and so on?

I mean, yeah, screw finasteride, but I thought it was surprising how people reacted over here.

Why do you keep bumping this thread? What do you want?

Even after your own experience, you still want to know why people try to avoid Finasteride? Did you read the thread I linked to (post #6, second link) or watch the short video (post #3)? Or are you waiting for someone to come along and post something that you want to hear?

So you think taking oral testosterone is safer and dht is more important than testosteorne?

I'm not trying to do anything, I just liked to know. whats your problem? Do you think I enjoy my side effects? I most certainly don't.

OP, while taking Finasteride, you should keep some Nolva (or an AI, ideally) on hand in case of something like this. I only use the stuff on cycle, since taking it off-cycle sucks and gives me sides (like what you described).
You could look into using Letro to lower your estrogen levels and regress the gyno.

Thanks gator. Do you use it (in your cycles) for HL or for something else? if for hair loss, does it work?

Yeah, just for hair-loss. It works well. I only use like .3mg/day (its a liquid oral).

So you only use 0,3 mg a day on a cycle and it's effective? That's interesting, I guess your hairloss is not that agressive?

@Libertarian,
What's hard to understand about that?
1. You think taking oral testosterone on cycles is less dangerous than taking propecia?
2. You think DHT is more important then Testosterone?

I don't know what your problem is. please stay away from this thread.

1mg is overkill. Even .2mg is almost just as effective, yet far cheaper and with fewer side effects.

yeah, i've heard that propecia may be overdosed.
It's nice to hear that you can keep things stable just by using a low dose on cycles... how old are you and how much hair do oyu have left on your head?

I'm 22. My hair started thinning out 2 years ago (long before I touched anabolics). Now that I use Finasteride on cycle, my hair has actually regrown a bit and is better than it was when I was natural and not using 5a reductase blockers.

Just normal, moderately dosed cycles. Test, and test+EQ so far.

Reason number 1 is because you are 20. Take everyone's advice and go to a doctor. This is not something to screw around with.
