Protien Shake ... My specialty.
This forum makes me hungry ... Here is my breakfast 24/7/365.
My Simply Blueberry Protien Shake:
Grab a blender, 1/2cup measuring scoop & measing spoons. That's all you need. Add to the blender ... 2cups 1% or Non-Fat Milk (preferably non fat), 1/2cup Raw Oat Bran, 1/2Cup Blueberries,1 whole or 1/2 Banana, 2-4tsp extra virgin olive oil, & 1-2tsp cinnamon. DONE!
This shake, believe it or not, actually tastes fantastic!! If you let blend for a min or 2, it will have a smooth thick texture and the oat bran will not be noticed. A quicker or shorter blend will produce a bit of a grainy texture; which is still delicious. My nutrition teacher gave me this recipe, but she suggested using ice as well. I use frozen blueberries, so ice is not necessary. Besides, I think the ice is to make it more of a slurpy than a milk shake. I'm not fond of slurpies.
What's cool about this shake, as well as anything else you blend really, is that you can add anything you want to it (i.e., supps, vitamins, and/or different berries and fruit). It's essentially fool proof. There isn't anything you can do to screw it up.
I've been eating this shake for almost 5yrs to 6yrs now, literally every morning. First time users beware ... if your not used to high fiber foods you'll want to stay close to a restroom. Sudden bursts and bowl movements might be noticed during the first couple of weeks of consumption. lol, I still remember my first couple weeks. It really cleans you out, so to speak.
Try it,

Where are the high GI carbs?
Milk is low, unless you use lactose-free.
Blueberries and bananas are moderate at worst.

High GI cabrs huh ... not so much. Where ... Raw oat bran? No. The sugar in milk? Eh, not really anything to be concerned about. The fruit perhaps? OK, but its fruit ... everyone needs to eat fruit; there full of vitamins and anti-ox. Besides, the flax or extra virgin olive oil (whatever you use) combined with the oats will slow digestion down pretty good. On top of this, the shake contains a decent amount of fiber, its packed with protein and omega's.
Believe me when I say there isn't anything wrong with this shake ... its taste great, its nutritious, and loaded with cals. Perfect for the individual trying to gain a few pounds. As I've stated before, its a morning staple of mine. It's been my breakfast for the last 4yrs.
Try it ... then come talk to me about it.

Not off the top of my head ... but if I remember correctly, its something like 100g protein (protein powder & milk), 21g fat (mostly from the oil -- poly/mono unsaturated), but I cant remember the carbs. I have it writen down somewhere around here. I'll look everything up tonight and make a note of it for your guys.

I'm glad you liked it ...
My Nutrition teacher gave me this recipe (well one like it - I tweaked it) back in 2000. This lady was 70+ year old and didnt look a day older than 50. She looked great for her age.
The oat bran might turn a lot of people off, but once blended the shake brings on a smooth texture and is not at all gritty. Again, this has been my morning breakfast for the last few years. I love it!
I urge everyone to try it who hasn't already,

Hey similar to mine sprt..
3 eggs whole
1 cup milk
cup frozen blueberries
1/2 cup oat bran
1-2 scoops chocolate whey
I love that shake.. the frozen blueberries make it really cold in the morning so it goes down easy.
Gonna give yours a go tomorrow.

I plugged the ingredients into Fitday to get an idea of the macro... with 3 scoops of ON protein powder, the shake breaks down to something like:
Cals: 1153
Protein: 98g
Carbs: 101g
Fats: 49gr

It's close to that ... I guess depending on the ingredients you use it will vary. Mine is not that high in fat, however. I cant remember the other macro content, but I do remember the fat being 21.5g. I still haven't looked up the total macro count for the ingredients I use, I need to do that. And I only use 2 scoops of powder also; again depending on the brand of powder the protein content will vary.
Close though,
