yup puked my tits off with 500 and it seemed like it took a year to pull .. today i felt fine ... it was a quick pull .. i just didn't have enough left for 525 .. had i gone straight from 495 to 525 i think i could have gotten it
oh and by the way thanks guys
03-29-2006, 10:19 PM
Nice job Glen

no doubt. 10lbs difference in a max feels like no difference. are you conventional or sumo?Originally Posted by glenihan

thanks again guys
conventional beelze .. never tried sumo and no real desire too .. i'm no PLer just doing this as something different ... i love having deads as a back exercise (i realize it utilize legs but would utilize them far more if i did sumo)
03-29-2006, 11:19 PM
You should give sumo a shot, glen. Feels much better on the joints and still torches the back (IMO).
03-29-2006, 11:31 PM
i hear what you're saying kwycke although my joints never hurt from deads .. its just both shoulders and both elbows on a lot of upper body exercises haha
03-29-2006, 11:58 PM
Were you pulling underhanded Glen? My PL'er buddy always gives me **** because I pull underhanded with straps..lol..I just tell him to beat it..
03-30-2006, 12:00 AM
left hand underhand right hand overhand
03-30-2006, 12:03 AM
congrats, that's definately some nice pullin there
and mullet throw those straps away for the deads
03-30-2006, 12:03 AM
I do the opposite, and I am right handed but for some reason that hand always gives up..I have pulled a 400 1RM, but I know I could have gotten more if it weren't for these ****in hands
03-30-2006, 08:44 AM
Grats Glen.. that's is alot of weight.
I've just begun to throw my gloves away and work on grip strength... With out hooks or straps, I would not be able to lift that sort of weight.
03-30-2006, 08:50 AM
i gotcha. i stuck to conventional up until 6 bills, then the **** just hurt too much. if you start feeling any aches and pains during conventionals, might want to consider sumos. like kwyck said, they still fry your back, it's just a lot safer. read a report recently where conventionals and sumos were studied and the findings were sumo used 21% less energy than conventionals thereby having greater body-mechanical advantages. i can dig it up if ya'll are interested. pretty interesting study.Originally Posted by glenihan

For those that don't know.. that's Kara, deadlifting 501 pounds at a body weight of 165.

That broad is nutty...And here I was thinking I was the **** when I did a 400 at 155...
03-30-2006, 10:22 AM
155? i remember those days, i was 11 and i loved macaroni.
03-30-2006, 10:37 AM
i remember 155 .. its was 4 years ago
03-30-2006, 10:58 AM
For me it was about two years ago, I was 19...I'm 165 in my avy and about 175 now..Hope to be 185-190 on my 22nd B-Day on Sep.11..

Hahaha...Yeah I guess...

The top pulls are all conventional though... Bolton, Magnussen, Frank, etc. I think only one guy has pulled over 900 sumo.Originally Posted by Poobah

Beelze I'd like to see that study if you have time. When switching did your poundages decrease until you got used to the new form, or was it pretty much take off and go?Originally Posted by Beelzebub
