Hematoma From Belt

  1. Hematoma From Belt

I use a 10mm Inzer Forever lever belt. I first got a hematoma (confirmed by a doctor) from it in December. It was prob 4-5 inches above my hip bone on the right side of my body, about 7-8 inches away from my belly button. It ended up looking pretty bad, prob 4 inches tall by 6 inches wide of dark brusing. It didn't bother me when I was lifting and over time it went away. But now it's coming back in the exact same spot. Interestingly, both times have been on cycle. I'm don't care about how it looks and I'd much rather have a super tight belt for support and deal with a hematoma then switch belts. But does anyone have tips for avoiding them or minimizing how bad they get aside from ice, heat, etc?

  2. I have the same belt. It's pretty amazing...but notorious for causing some pain. Takes a while to work it in. You've had it a while now though I assume since you mention using it on various cycles.

  3. I've had it since October 2012, it's definitely broken in at this point.

  4. Might need to loosen it a notch when on. Could be from bloat or something. Not sure what else to suggest really. I've been bruised once from mine when testing my deadlift 1RM, but it wasn't broken in yet then as well.

  5. Sounds like your core muscles aren't strong enough to handle the interabdominal pressure. Work on strengthening your transversus abdominus, rectus abdominus abd obliques. Keep the tension in your belt lower until you're able I handle it.
