Cab backloading

  1. Carb backloading

I've had excellent success with carb backloading, but I don't know of many strength athletes that do it. I didn't start it for aesthetic purposes, and that's still not why I do it. My contests don't involve me prancing around on stage in a speedo. However, when you drop weight classes and retain all your strength, that's a very good thing. I won a state championship because of it. Anyone else here had success with it?

  2. I did for about two months and recently stopped, although I miss it. I was able to eat in a slight surplus and maintain 220 BW and hit PRs at my last meet.

  3. Well I asked a bunch of trainers if they knew what carb backloading was during an interview recently. Does making trainers look stupid count as a victory?

  4. Haha. You know, the more I read Kiefer's articles and listen to his podcasts, the more I see how antiquated most "trainers" are. They're prisoners of fitness dogma and traditional nutrition principles that have either been unproven or DISPROVEN scientifically.

I have a difficult work schedule and that combined with me being away for two weeks for work related training, I put it on hold for a bit. Carb cycling for the meantime.

I find it very difficult to maintain a proper diet, but CBL kinda forced me to adhere to something. I ate a lot of meat filled salads and sausages during the day. On my days off I trained around noon then backloaded at 5pm. On days I work, I ate dinner at 5, trained at 6, then finished the backload at 8. Only a couple days I trained fasted early in the morning, in which I had carbs post workout. Majority of my dinners were lean meats and lots of pasta and rice.....and Edy's Slow Churned Ice Cream...

Dosed 5g leucine preworkout, EAA's intra workout.
