Captains of Crush - When to Move up?
Hey guys,
A couple months ago I started doing grip training with the COC grippers. I was able to close the #1 right away so I started with the #1.5. I can now do 10 full reset reps with the right hand and 5 with the left for the 1.5
Should I jump straight to the 2.5 (238) or should I just opt for the 2 (195)? I'm thinking I will prob be able to close the 2.5 with my right and maybe the 2 with my left.
Reps for input.
Thanks

This thread brought back old memories...
I'd say get both. Even if you can't close the 2.5, you can use it to do negatives until you can.

What?! Are you saying you can't crush the #3? Wimp!

I would get the #2 if I were you, it will allow you to train more and work up to 2.5 and 3. I have a 1, 2, 2.5, and there is a big difference between the 2 and 2.5.

Good call on that one. Unfortunately I got tired of waiting (2 months waiting for the #2 to be ordered at my local fitness depot) and bought the 3 which I've been doing forced reps with. The 1.5 almost seems like a toy now when I'm warmed up but the 3 I can get maybe at best with right hand 2cm away from close (yes far). I prob will buy the 2 now that I think it's finally in stock.

So just a quick update in case anyone cares :P. My 2.5 finally came in. Unfortunately I just had a pretty intense grip session the night before buying it so I will have to wait until Sunday before I can give it a real honest go. That said, I did give it a shot completely cold in the morning after finishing my grip workout last night and I got it to withing less than 1cm of closing. I'd be pretty surprised if I can't close, or at least come very close to closing it, tmr when I'm fully recovered and warmed up. Will post the deets tmr.

I just got my 2.5 and 3. The 3 is a BEAST! Ive closed the 2.5 with my right hand thus far. Also been playing with the rolling thunder deadlift handle and its helping my grip. Good luck man.

Get the #2. The 1-2 isn't too bad of a jump. The 2-2.5 was decent for me. 1.5-2.5....I'd want to be doing the 1.5 for about 20 reps, lol. The 3 is serious business.

So today I went to grab the 2.5 during an OLY workout and first attempt came within about 1mm of closing it. I actually kinda thought it was closed for a second. Gimme a week
. Thanks for the input guys.

You're 6'7? That must be a bitch for squats. I find squatting at 6'4 annoying sometimes but I always go ATG. Must have big hands though which I'm sure helps with grip training.

Squatting really isnt that bad for me. I started working with a powerlifting coach and he widened my stance up a lot and has me squatting deep and i get no pain in my lower back or knees. I have more problems with benching than anything else.
