I don't think you should cut, in all honesty.

Keep your diet to cleaner foods, stay in a caloric surplus and focus mainly on heavy compound movements. You'll experience great results overtime.

Remember, it's a marathon, not a sprint! You're making good progress so far. Just don't become discouraged and continue to work, and the results over time will surprise you!

I agree. Your progress is great, but you're not even close to fat. If that's 210 then you could still gain another 10 lb of fat before it would even show. Don't be freaked out by a little fat, it's really difficult to add muscle when your fat is too low. Keep lifting hard and eating right and you will continue to add muscle.

Thanks guys, I think it is 210, I am Australian and we use kgs and centimetres I am 95 kg 185 cm and 60 kg in the previous photo. My favourite lifts are compound lifts, I don't like bench much but deadlift and squat are my favourite I can deadlift 140 kg and squat 120 not sure how many pounds that is.

Your progress really is good. I still don't think you've got much fat though. How much did your waist grow between the 2 pics?

It was about 27 inches or 28 in first pic and now 34-36, I can squeeze into size 34 jeans but it's tight around the legs also so I prefer the 36s. I was also 8 kg underweight in the skinny pics hence the small waist

You're starting to look pretty solid, dude.

It's good your favorite lifts are compound movements, most people when they first start out focus on trying to get bigger arms with endless curls and extensions. Keep focusing on those compound movements and keep eating like a beast, and you'll continue to get bigger and stronger. I think you should keep bulking for another month or two, then try to lean out a little bit. Again, that's just my opinion and you can do what you want, but that's what I would do in your shoes.

Thanks Andrew , like I said squats and deadlifts are my favourites when I was anorexic I could barely squat the bar now I can do more then I weigh and I'm only 21 as well, with bench I use the Dumbbells and can do 35 kg dumbbell each hand I'd like to get my bench to 200 kg but it's always been the slowest to make progress, with my diet I eat about 3000 calories but don't count I was put on a 3000 cal diet when anorexic to put on weight and I've continued that. I eat lots of chicken steak eggs vegetables rice oats and rye bread.

I'm going to post some pics of the progress from , my low weight with the anorexia was 55 kg 184 cm and I was hospitalised twice, since I've recovered and started eating I've shot up a centimetre to 185.5 cm first pic is 2 months after starting weights I got given a dumbbell kit for Christmas by my family when I was anorexic and 18 and encouraged by my family to put on muscle 3 months later I was hooked and joined the gym and started the SS starting strength routine which is compound lifts the last two are at 6'1 160 lbs I was quite lean and would love to be that lean again especially as my doctor tells me I am a bmi of 27 which is classified as overweight.

BMI is antiquated and takes no account of lean tissue to fat tissue, don't let the doc mess with you on that. If you feel good about how you look and wanna keep getting bigger and stronger, then eat big and lift big.

200kg bench would be a good goal to shoot for or in lbs 440. Keep pounding the weights and food and grow some more. Add in some intervals or prowler work at the end of your lifts once or twice per week for an extra fat burn. Otherwise stay the course.

So that means your waist is probably around 34, not too big at all. Sounds like your doc has a rather odd notion of a healthy weight. Is he overweight by any chance?

Edit: best way to figure out if you have too much fat is body fat %. A rule of thumb I heard is, anything over 20% is probably too much. The BMI doesn't account for muscle, whereas your body fat % is what it is regardless of how much muscle you've got.

Starting strength is a great routine to begin on, you're smart for starting with that. Are you still seeing results from the program? And are you still gaining weight with the 3k calories per day diet?

Yeah still seeing results mainly just in strength gains not really muscle ones , I have added some other lifts to what I'm doing like lat pull down etc. with the diet I am still making weight gains though a lot slower then when I was skinny some weeks I gain half a pound but some weeks I gain nothing or just 100 grams I eat 4-5 meals a day meal one is oats and eggs meal two is pre workout chicken and rice post workout steak and rice and dinner I have little carbs just steak chicken or fish and steamed greens to keep me healthy, my PT told me that protein from whole foods is better then shakes so I don't use them oh and I occasionally have low fat cottage cheese before bed. I assume it's around 3k calories but it could be abit more or less as I don't count calories anymore I did this with my anorexia and it was unhealthy for me to do so. On the weeks I gain nothing I'll sometimes add in some healthy snacks like a handful of nuts or some fruit. Thanks for all your help Andrew. I am also thinking of trying creating or tribulus but not sure if these are worth the cost when I could buy food instead ( protein is costly in Australia) you can't get proper anabolics here so those two are all that's really available. Thanks

Sorry for lack of paragraphs I don't know how to make a paragraph from my iPhone, forgot to say I've recently added 2 45 minute walks a week to cut down on fat gain while bulking and for overall health.

Do you like milk? If you add 32oz of milk per day you could start to see more gains as well. I'd drink 16oz in the morning and 16oz Postworkout, along with your breakfast/Postworkout meal. I come from a similar predicament you're in, I wasn't anorexic but I was a skinny, scrawny bastard my whole life. I'm 5'5" and I never weighed more than 120lbs before I got out of high school, now I'm 5'5" 175lbs. All I did was lift heavy and eat a ton of food, so I'm sure you can do it too. Anabolics shouldn't be an option until you've got years of experience in lifting, you don't want to shortchange yourself in terms of natural gains. It's tempting, I know, but trust me- you can gain a LOT from just years of food and heavy lifting. Just continuously increase calories and train hard, lift heavy and sleep a ton, man. You'll have ups and downs, but as long as you stay committed and keep your focus you'll go far!

BMI is meaningless to any decent lifter/bodybuilder. If you have decent muscle mass your BMI is going to be out of whack. When he was heavyweight champion, Mike Tyson was, according to the BMI charts, obese. Ronnie Coleman is by the charts, morbidly obese.
