JonesersRX7 pics... Updated 07-18-05

Okay so I said I would post pics and here I am. (I found that I suck at posing)

I turn 23 in May and am 5'7. Never done any AAS/AS just old V12 before it went turbo and lots of protein. I have been lifting off and on since I was 16 never really going longer than 3 to 4 months tops. Prior to the past 5 months the last 3 years I had been to the gym probably about a total of 3 months total time. My girlfriend became pregnant and we are due in 22 days but I told myself I would get back to the gym so around the 4th month of the pregnancy I started going to the gym religiously. I went from 155 to 174 as of yesterday. I have been on a 4500 cal diet for 5 months now. I cut out cardio 3 months ago due to time and go 4 times a week for 6-8 weeks then 1 week off. I took these pics tonight and haven't been to the gym in one week but am starting to test 15, 10 and 5 rep maxes for HST for tomorrow.

Things I need to work on... traps, bi's (although I have made some good gains), LEGS! Back thickness all over.. My stretch marks first came about from when I turned 16 105lbs - 130lbs and gained 30 pounds working out. They have only gotten worse since I gained another 20lbs from 19yrs old 150lbs (Posted pic where I was cut!) - 22yrs old 174lbs.

Things that I like... Lats!.. delts are still vascular, calfs..

I can't wait to CUT! But it was good because it was hard to eat clean with a pregnant women in the house! Okay.. enough with all that crap that 3/4ths of you won't read!

EDIT: I found a pic when I was 21 and holding my girlfriends new LV purse... very very ghey... but it's the only 19 -21 pic I could find.

You have a big upside. Just keep working hard. To cut up I would lift twice a day.

I've read in some studies that lifting twice a day really shoots catabolism through the roof. In other words it would be really really bad while cutting :) But I don't have the studies handy, just my 2 cents...

Yeah.. I don't plan on doing a 2x a day split. I don't have the time.

Yeah.. I don't plan on doing a 2x a day split. I have the time.
i am doing HST for a while now 3x week but twice a day, 2 sets for 15's and 10's and 3 sets each for 1 month of 5's.
Not training to failure and getting the next day and of course progress load has been the key for me. Since last oct'04 when I first started till end of Feb'05 I went from 159 to 166, put on about 5 lbs LBM, then unfortunately had to go for an already scheduled operation and took a month off. Right now starting back at 162 at about 11%.

I have only a pic after cardio the other night...

This is after a 3 weeks of H.E.A.T and then one week on Cap Cream and Lipoderm Ultra. I have slacked on cardio only making it 1 day a week. I realized that by skipping cardio and also my ab day durring a bulk is a very bad idea. Abs are starting to show but aren't very defined from only a month of doing them 1 day a week.

I will update this comming Saturday with pics for 2 weeks on LipoDerm and Cap cream.

I posted the pic of my last day of bulking before going on a break for 2 weeks while my daughter was being born. I did a run of HST for 8 weeks just at or below maintenance and got to my heaviest ever at 184.

1 month cut with above listed supplements at 175. I started a month ago at 180.

Good progress bro. If you do have the time, I suggest training 2x a day, say 4 times a week.

When I was your age, I progressed the most when doing that. And I mean adding lots of muscle, no fat. It would be perfect for your current recomp, adding LOTS of calories. Your protein looks good. Yeah, I used that fitday link in your sig... Keep it up man. :)

I was trying to low carb it the past couple of days.. but today I had a bagel, 80g right there! :jaw:

Currently, after almost 2 months off (been back a month) and lots of holiday eating, I look like the blurry bulking pic 2 posts up.

I am finding I need some serious tweaking of my diet and sticking to cardio.

i can under no circumstances see how lifting 8 times a week total (2x a day 4x a week) would be beneficial

lifting is catabolic

Well I tried to write out a schedule and I don't have time. Between 1 10 month old now... with another on the way.

I can get to the gym 4x a week max with maybe a couple of mornings of cardio (have a tough time waking up).

I actually think I am going to try Glen's routine here - http://anabolicminds.com/forum/402685-post10.html

As I have only hit 1 body part a week for the life of my training, with the exception of a short lived HST routine.

glen:

each body part gets 2 warm up sets then 3 working sets of 8-12, 4-6, and 2-4 reps with the same weight each set and not a very long time between sets
so are you saying 3 sets of 8-12, 3 sets of 4-6 and 3 sets of 2-4 for a total of 9 sets? I'm all for less time and more efficiency...just curious.

Got some good sized legs there 'lil fella. :)
Thanks B!

It's amazing what happens when you actually stick to leg days and squat!

I want to get some current pics up so I can look back in 3 months, and say "dang... I actually got to 8%" Do that hopefully Sunday.

I use basically the same workout program as Glen. I got it from Ironman. I do the body parts a little diff split than Glen and I also do my work set reps in opposite rotation.
With the long rest between sets it takes an hour 15 minutes or a little more but the actual number of sets is low.

I am quite happy with the results.

.

Jonesy what would you say your body fat percentage is in that 184lbs picture. I'm curious because that is very close to how I look right now definition wise. I will say that you cut up VERY nicely, and seeing how you really look bigger after you cut makes me excited for when it comes time for me to cut. Any suggestions? Do you feel that you retained most of your strength during the cut?

Glenihan, how much rest do you typically allow between working sets in your routine?

usually around a minute or so nothing really hard and fast .. i just try not to waste time (not for squats and deads though .. that's until i stop feeling like i'm going to die)

Sorry.. I skipped over your post.

I was probably 15% @ 184. I still had vascularity in my forearms and chest/delt.

Thanks! I really do look bigger cut, but I think everyone does.

Focus on diet, then cardio and training. Don't skip on cardio like I did/do tho... takes alot longer. Then when all that is in order add in something like Lipoderm Ultra for stomach/love handles - always the last to go for me.. and never really left this last summer heading into winter. :run:

Strength.. I don't even worry about. I periodize my training to Summer = Cut Fall = Strength Winter = Bulk using new strength Spring = Recomp

LOL I hadn't checked this thread in a while and I was just about to post the same thing. I actually don't do any cardio or abs. I am NOT saying they shouldn't be done, just that I will get around to them one of these days. :)

BTW 1min rest YOWZA. I am slow poke boy compared to you. I take 3 mins between sets and 5 mins between different exercises.

haha what's up crowler

cardio should be done ... even during bulking i'll admit that i'm just lazy but i do play squash at least once a week so i'll count that lol

as for abs i don't think everyone needs to do them once a solid core is established .. squats and deads give you plenty of ab work

yeah when i was on that routine i tried to keep time between sets to a minimum .. 1-1.5 minutes usually :)

Thanks man, I've read lots of your posts, you got the head for it so just put the will down and you could be a force for sure.

And did you get good results on this plan?
