timing for a protein shake

I lift in the evenings at my local YMCA.... It's not a bad place just empty because no one in my town likes to workout I guess. Anyway, I like to do my workout then do a cardio session right afterwards. Should I drink my protein shake after my workout then do cardio or wait until afterwards and have a bigger one? I have been drinking one after the workout then after the cardio when I get home. What should I be doing?

I have been using Cytosport Complete whey. I use it in the afternoon(on my off days), before workouts, after workouts, and before bed.
Should I be using a better protein?

Instead of a protein shake drink some BCAAs during your cardio and hold off on the actual protein shake for your post work out shake. If at all possible try to take in a slow digesting protein before you workout to keep your Amino Acid levels elevated for the duration of your workout.

What are examples of a slow digesting protein? I take NO xplode 45 minutes before my workout then about 15 minutes before I hit up just 3 scoops of Complete Whey and Some water.

My shakes are normally just 2-3 scoops of Complete Whey and some water...

Yea I have tried Pro Complex (chocolate). It tasted fine but even that is a fast digesting source to some degree.

I am currently using some Ultra Peptide because I wanted to treat myself, and I have some ATW Isolate and Blend for post. I won't make UP a staple. Honestly you don't need to spend a huge amount on powders. I personally love taking in some skim milk and f/f cottage cheese for my casein for pre workout.

really with what ever u want...
research, and experiment... after a while you will develope ur ur routine and you will know what u like and dont like...

wait till u get ur stapels down.(products u take everyday) u will start selling furniture just to keep em in your routine....i cant live with out my pasterized eggwhites.... i gag when i mix my whey with water. and that alone is kinda expensive.. well worth the cash though. if u take a creatine.. glutamine is something to look into. (just a thought) research for a post workout meal as well... about two hours after my shake i usually have a slice of wheat toast and some cottage cheese.. i workout close to bed time though soo it will be different for everyone..Research, research, research... GOODLUCK
