    Black Beans

Anyone else love black beans? They're one of my favorite foods and seem to go with a lot of different foods. Here's some info about them:

    Total Fat 1g 2%
    Saturated Fat 0g 0%
    Sodium 0mg 0%
    Total Carbohydrate 25g 8%
    Dietary Fiber 6g 24%
    Protein 7g 14%

    Black Beans And Health
Black beans are packed with fiber and protein. That means they’ll satisfy even the most intense hunger, and will keep you feeling full and energetic for hours. Black beans help to regulate your body’s glucose level throughout the day, which means your metabolism will be chugging away at top speed, burning through any extra calories you’ve taken on so that you can stay slim and trim. Plus, the fiber content of black beans will help you beat cholesterol. The soluble fiber in black beans binds with the bile acids in your system and carry them out of your body, making it impossible for those acids to become cholesterol. This is great news for your heart health, and can dramatically reduce your risk of a stroke or heart attack. Black beans also pack a large amount of insoluble fiber, which is key fuel for your digestive system, and helps keep your whole digestive tract in top shape, preventing a wide range of ailments, including short-term bouts of constipation and chronic conditions like diverticulosis and irritable bowel syndrome. Plus, black beans are high in antioxidants called anthocyanins, which help fight the free radicals in your system, so black beans are a powerful nutritional weapon in the fight against cancer and the aging process. Black beans are also high in iron and manganese, two important building blocks of a healthy overall diet

I love beans, and I dont have much money so I eat chili alot and throw a couple choped up turkey franks in with it and add some toast for some more carbs. 40 protein per can of chili 5 per frank 4 per slice of bread yeaaa baby
about 60 protein and 100 carbs for less then a few bucks!

I also find it interesting the different fiber contents claimed by various producers. I was looking at Primo's Black Beans, and per 250mL (1 Cup), They had 32g of Total Carbs, 19g of which are Fiber! So 13g Net Carbs and 11g of Fiber, not to mention Antioxidants up the whazoo!

Black beans are almost a perfect food. If I ever end up doing a cut I will be eating lots of beans. They seem to just make any hunger pain be non-existent. The fiber can't hurt either!!

Feck the cut. Make your whole hobby of fitness a big "recomp." Eating the best of foods only when you're hungy and consistently exercising is good stuff.

Anywho, these are a staple of mine. They have been for about four-five months now, as I don't eat wheat anymore. My carb staples are now beans (mostly black beans, sometimes some kidney/pintos), corn, brown rice, white/sweet potatoes. And I've never been happier eating! And the beans, they combine with most anything I eat to make a complete protein.

    beans n rice
beans n corn (n rice too)
beans n corn n rice (n walnuts too)

    etc. etc.

    Good stuff.
    Good post.

Only if you sprout them Which remind me, I really should go buy some more, those, mung beans, and wheat berries make great sprouting combos.

Black beans are great. Goya is a good brand to buy if you don't have the time or money to cook them yourself . They sell the large 1lb can for about $1.50

    I usually:
    * Blend a 1lb can of black beans in blender
    * Sautee some garlic and onion in a pan with a little OO
    * Pour the blended black beans into pan
    * Add a dash of cumin as soon as I see bubbles
    * Stir for a few minutes
    * Remove from heat

Eat with some grilled or broiled chicken, brown rice, avocado, and sprinkle some queso fresco on the beans.

You can also make tostadas - my favorite! Spread the blended black beans on a tostada, add some shredded chicken, monterrey or queso fresco, shredded cabbage or lettuce, diced tomatoes, and your favorite hot sauce - home made beats all

... hmmm, I think I'll fix tostadas for dinner tonight, haven't had them in a while

Please don't tell me you eat a pound of beans in one sitting...that could be a toxic hazard.
