baked potatooo's, good bad or ugly?

Hey guys, wondering what kind of bakers you prefer, or if you even consume them on a regular bases for carbs with meals.

I only ask since i bought a new microwave with a baker button!! I've been having like 5 a day and have since put my rice cooker aside.

sweet potatoes are awesome carb sources. Regular potatoes can be used too (sparingly) but aren't nearly as healthy as sweet potatoes/yams.

I guess thats the way it goes, the less expensive stuff (idaho's) are never as good as the pricey ones (sweet's)

I propable should have posted this before buying a 20lb bag of regular bakers.

I have a sweet potato mash with my steak and chicken and its just heaven. Try baking a sweet potatoe mash with a little brown sugar on top...mmmmmmmmmmmmm

Sweet potatoe fries are good too!
I like sweet potatoe's with cinamon, a touch of spray butter and splenda.
Regular baked potatoe's arent to bad in moderation on a bulk, i would steer away on a cut though.

Dont worry gibbob2 regular baked potatoes are still a good source of starch, fiber and vitamins and minerals. Although sweet potatoes are usually higher in certain vitamins and minerals with a lower GI value they are more pricey. Most regular potatoes do have a higher GI value but it varies on the type and preperation of the potatoe, yet they are cheaper. One thing to consider regarding the GI value of a reg. potatoe is since there is a decent amount of fiber it slows the absorption of starches being digested, add some greens or grains and the fiber content is increased even more . Anywho, they surely are more economic alternative to sweet potatoes, but don't forget to incorporate or substitute a regular potatoe for a sweet potatoe every now and again.

I love potatoes, but I really don't like microwaving them (or anything besides leftovers in general). I really prefer slow roasted in the oven, if you rub a little olive oil and salt into the skin first it makes the skin so tasty!

ya, cause my problem is how soggy the sweet bakers get as opposed to regulars.

What I have done is started eating sweet potatos during the day, then at night (I am a server and work at night) i will take cooked baked potatoes with me. They taste better after sitting around for a few hours anyway.

    haha,
interesting to see sweet potatoes & brown sugar through the eyes
of someone viewing them as a new discovery. Here in the states that's a standard side dish during the holiday season. Common as it is, everyone who likes it tends to be just as enthusiastic about as you are, though.
