Hey guys,

Sorry to ask such a rather stupid question, but how many of you drink milk regularly?

I ask this because I became severly lactose intollerant as a kid (bone marrow transplant killed alot of enzyme producing cells), so I have really kept off of milk for some years now.

Anyway I recently discovered Loctose Free Milk, and well is the sh*t :) I always loved milk as a kid, and never realized how much I missed it.

My question is, is it a good bbing food/drink? I know it contains about 9grams of protein per 8oz glass, and the skimmed milk has about 90 calories (i take the skimmed no fat milk).

Any advice is really appreciated as I cant stop drinking the stuff (i always used to take protein poweders with water and a carb powder - but milk makes them taste so much better :D)

I just wanted to know how much you all drink a day and if its good to use daily.

Thanks everyone :)

- Mashed.

If I'm bulking and ON, I'm drinking a gallon a day.

I miss it when I drop the carbs. :(

2 cups mixed with protein powder pre and post workout. The only time I drop milk completely is when doing CKD. Drink it up Mash!

I'll tell ya, milk was once a staple of my bodybuilding diet. Too much of it can cause a few problems here and there such as bloat caused by ADH, but with inflation and gas prices as high as they are milk is 4.99 in some places! Back when milk was 3.29 I would go through 2 gallons per week just myself. It was the cheapest way to add calories to a meal and it made protein and oatmeal taste better. I have definitely been drinking less lately, but to answer your question, it can definitely be used effectively.

Drinking over a gallon a day is just asking to develope an allergic reaction.

I drink a gallon a day, nonfat.

I've gone up to two gallons a day before, but the bloat and fat gain was not worth the strength increases I saw.

@ 1 gallon a day though, I am still able to lean bulk

Thanks for the info guys, I really do appreicate it. Im currently at about a half gallon per day, although I seem to get bloated at night (looks slightly like im pregnant)... but all is well by morning.

Other than that, Milk is great!

So do most of you take your milk with 1 scoop of protein powder, or do you also drink it pure (as in with nothing added) ?

When you consume large quatities of a food every day your body can develope a food allergy. Also that's a boat load of lactose for your body to handle everyday.

Im not saying this will happen but it can at that amount of milk.

Makes sense I guess. But in that case wouldnt you have a much higher chance of getting an alergic reaction from taking in so much whey/cassein protein powders ?

Your getting about 4 times as much of the proteins in once scoop of your average protein powders, when compared to say an 8oz glass of milk. (the proteins being the cause of the allergic reaction)

Hi MashedPotato, I am somewhat lactose intolerant. I can digest yogurt, cottage cheese, cheese, etc. without any problems - yogurt can give me a little gas if I eat too much at once. Milk, however, always gives me problems even if I chew (which I always do) Lactaid tablets before having milk. Regular WPI has the same effect, which is why I switched to Oryx Goat Whey protein powder.

I just came back from shopping at the local Wholefoods Market and found what I've been looking for for a little while: goat milk! I found Meyenger low fat goat milk Meyenberg Goat Milk Products. I compared prices with Horizon lactose free and Lactaid, but decided to go with the naturally lactose free goat milk.

I could not drive back home fast enough to make me a shake hehe :) It tastes awesome and it is naturally lactose free. I'll report back tomorrow on "results", and if I have no issues I'm definitely going to start drinking milk every day just like when I was a kid :)

I used to digest milk without problems many years ago. I stopped drinking it for a while and became lactose intolerant, oh well.

Edit: I correct myself. It seems that all mamal milk contains lactose, but goal milk is a lot easier for humans to digest.

Thanks for the information. I also have problems, not matter how many pills I take with milk. However the Lactaid milk, - no problems whatsoever. Worth a try. I have about 8 cartons of the stuff in my fridge :)

I'll definately give goat milk a try. Oh and btw, always buy your lactaid from the old Walmart as its much cheaper there than wholefoods (about 3.59 or something)

Meyenberg Goat Milk: my new favorite. I've had four cups since last night and no issues to report... yay, I can drink milk again!

MashedPotato, if you can find it you should try it.
