Oats for bulking

Is it me or are oats one of the best bulking foods out there?

They're great from a nutritional perspective and the cost is so absurdely cheap. Not to mention, they take almost no effort to cook.

I started eating a lot more recently to save money and to bulk up.. so far the results have been good.

I can easily pack away 2 cups of oats a day. Do you guys think this is excessive?

Also my typical workflow is 1 cup of oats, 2 cups of water.. microwave that badboy for 3:00, toss in some frozen blueberries.. stir it up, and good to go.

2 cups is not to much at all.

If I'm not mistaken, 1 cup of oats is about 25g of carbs.

yeah 1 cup is about 60g of carbs - but yes - there is a reason outs are such a bodybuilding staple. Great for homemade weight gainer shakes.

Not excessive at all. You can also stir in your favorite protein powder.

I seriously need to try this and some other recipes that I have seen for overnight oats. It would make mornings easier just having something ready to go.

I think oats are probably one of the worst bulk foods. It is high in fiber and fills you quickly with minimal calories. I love them, but never to bulk. Feeling full doesn't mean you're bulking.

A cup of oats has 60 carbs, and like 10 grams of protein and you can add it to drinks - how is that not amazing lol

I would never dispute that oats are a great macro source and good for you. I just think they aren't good for bulking. I realize this is not a popular opinion, but as I see it and have experienced.

1c cream of wheat has 92c 16p and digest a bit faster :)

It all comes down to what you like to eat when you bulk because you can eat more of it :)

While I do like oats, I actually prefer white jasmine rice as my main carb source when bulking.

You can make all of the same recipes you do with oats and substitute the white rice instead.

It's less "bulky" and doesn't fill you up as much as oats do, so you can easily pound a few cups at a time.

I make a rice cereal that's really good:

1-2 cups cooked white rice
Almond milk
Blueberries
Cinnamon
Salt
Stevia
1 scoop of PES cookies and cream protein

Since the rice is already cooked, just throw everything into a pot and heat it up on the stove until it's warm.

That's just one recipe, but you can take any "bodybuilder style" oatmeal recipe you like and make it work with the jasmine rice.
