Hey fellow AM'ers,

I'm looking to get back into the lifting game, and more notably, eating better. I quantify eating better as not eating out (fast food) or processed foods (frozen foods.)

I always jump start everything with my diet so I figured I'd pose a thread that I would imagine would be helpful to anyone to put together some crockpot recipes. I'm looking for quick and dirty recipes, you know, throw these things in there and finito.

I'm just not good at knowing what stuff to put in; I'm too much meat and potatoes.

So, any good crockpot recipe ideas out there?

Can be any favorite for any type of meal.

A burger place in NY makes a root beer BBQ sauce that was really good, it was the first time I heard of it myself but it was awesome.

Diet Soda + Pork Loin + BBQ Sauce = Amazing Pulled Pork
Chicken + Soy/Hot Sauce = Easy
Chicken + Walden Farms Ranch + Hot Sauce = BUffalo Chicken
Same for both above with fish works well

you can make alfredo in a crockpot,
Big Meatloaf + Potatoes + Carrots = Beef Stew

It does not take much.

One of my favorites lately has been chicken stroganoff in the crockpot.

Ingredients:

1 can Campbell's 98% fat free cream of mushroom soup
12oz plain Greek yogurt
4oz FF sour cream
1 envelope of Lipton onion soup mix
1 lb of frozen boneless skinless chicken breast

Directions:

Put chicken breast in crockpot.
Mix all other ingredients in a bowl and pour over chicken.
Cook on low for 7 hours.
Shred the chicken and stir back into sauce.

You guys use any weights and measures on any of this or just eyeball it, i.e. cover the bottom with chicken, fill up coke to cover chicken, add bbq. . .

I'm just cautious as to using cola and bbq in a slow cooker. Don't want it to caramelize.

Lovely. This are some solid tips. And simple, just my style!

I actually use this recipe for the BBQ, just leave out some of the sugar since the soda will add sweetness to it anyways. As for the amount of soda and sauce i'm not sure since it depends how much stuff you plan on cooking? I kinda just eyeball it but i always end up with to much sauce which I end up putting on everything I'm eating lol.

Just a note on that recipe, you can skip out on the 1/2 cup of water. I don't use it because it just waters the flavor down and also you can use truvia in place of brown sugar. I didn't notice much of a difference in flavor using the brown sugar or the truvia. I can't speak for the other artificial sweeteners out there.

Does it make a difference to cooking time or end result if meat is frozen or not before you put it in?

Cooking time with be a bit longer but I doubt that you will notice a difference in the end result. Freezing meat will sap a lot of the moisture out so regular clocking will some times taste dry but in a crock pot since you are cooking the meat in liquid it is a different story.

May take longer because its frozen
also remember the final product when cooking will release a lot of water due to being frozen which may thin out your sauce you cook it in, and it will come out watery compared to thicker in the end.
Think about that.

I do this all the time, but cook on low for 8-12 hours. Shred it up and use it on sandwiches and in wraps.
