  1. Measuring Meat!


    Sorry if this has already been addressed, but I'm just wondering when it would be most accurate to measure meat. Before or after cooking? I googled it but too many conflicting opinions. Just now I made chicken breasts and measured 8oz after I cooked it. What's the right way?

  3. In terms of if it's easier for me or if in the different ratios between the two? I don't know, I haven't been doing it long enough. This is the first time Im measuring everything and cooking to fit macros. Until now I've winged it lol the result was rapid weight loss and loose skin so I'm being meticulous and probably overthinking.

    Read the package you get from the store, and use that.
    Mine offers both cooked and raw recordings.
    if worst comes to worst get a generic chicken/steak for raw/cooked and stick with it. Consistency is key.

    Measuring before cooking is easiest for me

    For example ill cook 3.1 ish lbs of ground turkey and ill just eat that for the day and know its about 1970 calories in all 3 pounds. Plug it I to my phone and boom

    Most meats lose an ounce on cooking, 4 oz becomes 3 cooked except for steak (unless overlooked) and most fish

  7. Appreciate it fellas. I'm already telling a difference with how I look and feel from accurately tracking macros and making my own meals. Last two year's was trying to pick healthy food from my school's caf. They kept making "surprise" meals with all kinds of stuff inside....

    ate in a cafe for 5 years at college and eyeballed my entire time even through contest prep. Can still eat good just have to be smart with portions.

    IM jealous that you actually have truck vendors. We have taco bell and popeyes. Lol

  11. read the package. consistency is the key in most macro tracking. pick a way that easy for you to do it and be consistent with it. i measure mine after I cook it

    Steak and salmon rarely lose weight on cooking

    Chicken , turkey, ground beef loses about an ounce or so. 4oz raw will finish about 3oz cooked

    Look at it that way. That's how I've always do it
