    do you guys relate to this?


    I know myself and other people I know that workout share this. Even though i eat clean, I eat more than sedentary people. At times they will comment on the amount of food. Although i am much leaner than any of them, it sometimes bothers me especially since I use to have food issues. What are your thoughts on how much more we (people who weight train) need, and do you ever deal with this? it annoys me at times.

    Myself, my training partner, and my girlfriend (all powerlifters) went out to eat last week with my dad after a deadlifting session, the three of us ordered 5 entrees and 2 appetizers. My dad had a chicken salad lol. He was shocked at how much we all put down. I take pride in it, even though paying for that much food everyday sucks.

    No reason to have anxiety about it man.

    Im 6'5 ,over 200 lbs and I can down 7k calories without trying. Im not ashamed. Im hungry.

    i appreciate it guys. I know it shouldn't bother me, and I've gotten better about it but sometimes i think (maybe i am a pig or something) then i do realize though that my body just needs it. I'm active over 200 lbs and low bodyfat% (have abs without flexing) for some reason tough it bothers me occasionally

    A chick once had to stop watching me eat because she found it a little sickening... I found that reaction hilarious... It's all good man... If you were overweight & stuffing your face, that'd be a reason to be ashamed...

    exactly^ or if you do have what you should people notice and say something about it. Even though many of us here do more physical activity in a day than the average person does all week.

    The running joke amongst all our friends and family is how much I eat. They always know to make extra because I will either be grazing or eating twice as much as the next person. It doesn't bother me in the least.

    My grandmother looked at me on Christmas Eve and apologized as soon as I walked in bc EVERYTHING was fried, except for some veggies... All the fish and stuff was fried good thing I had my protein and aminos in the car along with some bars... I made a diesel shake and ate veggies. Not touchin the fried stuff.

    But my gf now a days knows to order extra when we eat out.. She's used to my eating habits and doesn't mind them. Took about 3 years, but now She's a keeper.

    I actually had a sushi chief grown when he saw my dad and my little brother and me walk into the bar. It was an all you can eat joint and he knew how much we put away.

    If I'm not mistaken he also had been dieting for about a year and a half straight or something and this was his first cheat meal in that period of time.

    one meal or eating in moderation with family and friends wont kill your gains. Your family and friends are things you get once in your life, you eat like 20-30 maybe 40 meals a week, having a cheat or a moderation meal wont kill you unless you are like 2 weeks out from a bodybuilding show or a photoshoot.

    Granted the food wont be great, but to be social and interact with your family/friends will be far more important that weighing out food on a scale when you look back you may laugh at your actions. Think about how much one meal will really hurt you in 2 days or maybe a week? your weight will baseline so its not really going to be a major factor.

    personally i IF, so some of my meals are large, some are small. If i am going to eat out or with family/friends ill eat lighter in the day (if i eat out later) or vice versa ifi eat out earlier and cut back later, and just move on and try on and focus on hitting your protein intake and overall kcals if possible. if its a cheat meal who cares have one a week and move on, and realize your training and diet the other 6 days of the week and rest of your meals will be in check.

    Never really have to worry about that with me. My wife and people around me know I have specific goals. I will however say there are plenty of macro friendly places out there. Dennys,ihop,applebees,tacobell ,subway,outback steakhouse ect ect.

    i agree to an extent, but sometimes when you attend say gathering at things like thanksgivng or christmas and people start to fret or get scared they wont hit X macros or get X calories or will go way over on their diets because of the food served and when in reality you are there to see your friends/family that you dont get to see everyday but you do get to use your food scale and hit the gym, we need to take a step back and raelize that its great we follow a diet, we hit X macros, and Y micros, but in essence a meal or two off around holidays or with friends/family wont kill our progress . yes it may be a setback, but for 99% of us we will never collect paychecks by tracking our macros and tracking kcals, while it can enhance our physique and make good progress in the gym we are human and we do have to realize our social lives are far more important than missing a meal or missing a workout due to a holiday or social/family gathering where our time with those people are memories that may never happen again.

    Man, that is rough that your grandma feels like she has to cater to your strict diet. I sure don't understand that. You should hug everyone and enjoy a meal with them that she took time prepare instead of eating aminos in your car. LOl

    i find that most of the ppl i know have a harder time wrapping their head around me eating clean food more than the amount...i also get ppl who comment on how often i eat.

    for example i work in an office and ppl always bring in donuts that i won't eat and ppl think i'm crazy for not eating any of the donuts....they also don't understand how i eat between the start of the work day and lunch and that i eat again between lunch and closing time

    my last g/f and i had a good system, she thought it was funny that i could eat a huge meal so when we'd go out she knew i'd eat my meal and then finish off whatever she didn't eat...no doggybags

    Exactly. If you're hiding in your car and refusing your families food that they prepared for you with love, you've got some psychological problems. Plus, it's a bit of insult to your family. If your constantly strict, that's not good for your gains either....Somethings gotta give and eventually it will, and it won't be pretty. I don't mean to sound like and ass, I'm just being realistic.

    I never said I ate in my car alone lol. I said luckily I had it in my car (and brought it in with me to get adequate protein) I scraped the fried breading off and ate the fish and squid. Sheesh

    1 meal with friend chicken or not hitting or protein intake means nothing in a day or two when our weight will baseline and we are back in our groove with gym and hitting calories.

    zing. so downing a protein shake after a meal out or with family members wont really justify much. Think about the damage a week from that day, will it be noticed? will your workouts suffer? hell no.. people need to step back and look @ the big picture, we really are not missing anything. trying to look at all the food and debate how much X calories are in that casserole dish is just foolish. In the next 5-10 years i can bet you will look back and kind of laugh how you acted at that occasion and how you isolated yourself because you were food focused when you should be family/friend focus on those moments when you may not get them back.

    I compete, but in the offseason or even in prep i had cheats all the way up through prep. As hard as it was to sometimes avoid foods at special times it was for a reason, but if its the offseason or even during a rebound i would not stress it and just get back on the wagon the next day.

    This is mental and in some people's minds, living this way makes them healthier and look/feel better. I find it the complete opposite and know that it makes no difference, but if it is in your head that it is, then it is hard to change that thought process.

    Doing IF I always get people to comment on my meals...

    Where I live we often go to a "pay by the lb" buffet. I am always hitting 2 - 2.5lbs on my plate and everyone else is sub 1lb. In the end of the day, all it matters is how you feel and what the mirror tells you. You canīt go by "regular" people, just like I can never tell anyone that I fast for 16 hours a day without having to hear OMG, thatīs soooo bad for you! Your metabolism is going to be so slow!

    I just shrug it off, no point in trying to explain to them that Menīs Health magazine ainīt a scientific publication.

    I was eating 4k calories at the end of my bulk. I was told that would make me fat. IS THIS NOT TRUE? MIND BLOWN!

    Lol I had a cheat day the other day, more like a cheat meal. Went to five guys and got 3 burgers and Fry's. Downed them all and got the oddest looks. That hit the spot though.

    If you guys don't know five guys each burger is two large patties.

    Five guys is awesome as they come, but I couldn't drop coin like that on a few burgers.

    I smoked 13lbs (about 4-5 racks) of baby back ribs the other day and ate almost a rack and a half with 2 baked potatoes and green beans. Our friends love when I plan a smoke because everyone gets to eat like I do and see how great it is. It was glorious. I have a 15lb brisket smoking right now in the 20degree snowy weather for tomorrow.

    took down a rack the other day myself. use to be a smoker at a restaurant and smoke almost 120-200 racks of ribs/day and over 100-150 pounds of pulled pork.
    Smokers are F'in Amazing.
