    Book reccomendations

    Hello all,

I've been a gym rat since my dad gave me my first weight set in 8th grade and I was always the lucky one that had abs no matter what I ate but now as I'm getting older, 28 now, I've found I really need to watch what I eat. I grew up on a beef cattle farm and my family always had a large garden so I grew up and still enjoy eating well but I'd love a good book that lays out everything I need to know about nutrition, preferably specifically relating to bodybuilding, starting with a basic frame work and working up. I've seen a few suggestions around the web but I always make my final decisions based on what anabolic minds tells me. One specific book I am considering is actually a text book, advanced nutrition and human metabolism, which I'll most likely read before any body building based book but I'm taking suggestions nonetheless. ALL advice is welcomed and appreciated.

The problem is that there are many differing opinions on bodybuilding nutrition. I recommend reading a few books to understand each side. Check out Chris Aceto (low fat), Lyle McDonald (low carb), and Tom Venuto (more balanced).

Thanks Jerry, that's more of the type of answer I was looking for. I love reading, especially when it has to do with diet/supplementation, and I'd consider myself pretty knowledgable but every time I feel like I'm starting to get it I discover a whole new facet so I wanna start over from the ground up and be more thorough with my reading. Have you personally read these books and found them to be helpful or insightful?

Yes, I've personally read them and many more. You will enjoy them all. For McDonald go with UD 2.0; some of his other stuff can get very technical.

So I started reading Chris aceto's "all you need to know about fat loss" but I feel like it should be renamed "all a fifth grader already knows about nutrition, featuring egregious grammatical errors similar to that of an author who speaks English as a second language" I'm only 40 pages in and it's a quick read so I'll see it through but if it doesn't get wayyyyyyy better I'd recommend people steer away from this author unless you literally know nothing at all about nutrition.
