Any kefir fans on the forum?
As I mixed up my post workout smoothie & started surfing AM, I started to wonder if anybody else ever used kefir. If you don't what it is, it's basically cultured milk. You can buy it commercially pre-made at the store or you can make your own, which is what I do. Way cheaper & healthier in my opinion. Almost twice the protein as regular milk & billions of healthy probiotics.. What more could you ask for! Feel free to chime in if you use or have tried it.

How does it taste?
My grocery store recently added a small section of them. I noticed it when I was buying my yogurt and almost grabbed a bottle but didn't.

I started buying the Lifeway Kefir from the store in November. Gingerbread cookie flavor, which I don't think will be back until next November. Switched to raspberry flavor which is also really good. I drink it everyday, a couple swigs to wash down my probiotic caps.
I've never done any research on that particular brand but I just kept it simple and invested $3.
Well, a quick google search and I find this on kefirpedia.org regarding grocery store kefir:
"It is a shelf-stable approximation of kefir. The only way to get real kefir is to obtain some grains and ferment it yourself. Real kefir has considerably more microflora and microflora diversity than anything you can find in the store." It's nothing official or scientific but it makes me wonder......
The store bought stuff seemed to have a positive impact on digestion and reduced puffiness of the skin, giving a dryer look all the time (kind of like being on an AI) --- so, I can't want to grow my own and see what glory is in store.
