As far as trying to combat it, here's a few things you can try:
* Drink a glass of water
* Chew gum
* Have some fat, such as a few nuts or peanut butter
* Do something, such as read, write, etc.
* Go for a brief walk
At the end of the day, having cravings and giving into them isn't all bad. And there are times when your body might want them because it needs them and when they are beneficial to consume. You learn to know when those times are, and for every other time that is not one of those times and you resist, you learn self-control and discipline.
All depends on your goals as well. You will learn what your body can handle and what it can't and what you can and cannot get away with.

I always have cravings! What I do is I either drink water, drink green tea, or eat an apple. The apple works most perfectly in combating cravings for me, though. It's filling and sweet.

My first few times I would try to cut, I would get the same thing untill I finally came to the understanding that food is only fuel and building blocks for my temple. It also takes 21 days to break a habit so it gets better. To answer your question try using crystal light. There are several flavors and the **** taste just like cool aid. Helped me fight cravings and get the 2 gallons of water a day!
