At what age did you make best strength gains?

if your hormones are at their max, from 15-21, then why do so many people see best strength/mass gains in mid 20's too early 30's?

26-29 was my peak period. I could pretty much eat what I wanted, do no cardio, and still maintained good strength and a 33" waist. After that it was downhill and, now at 38, I need to watch my diet and do cardio to keep my waist at 35/36" There seem to be more strength plateaus the older I get as well.

I think most guys overtrain and have some erroneus concepts about weightlifting. I know I overtrained for years, it wasnt till muscle growth slowed that I really learned to maximize my workouts and rest. JMO

As you go from 19 to 27 you obviously gain weight, what are the main changes in body hormonally, other then slowed metabolism.

The poll was easy for me though, seeing as how I'm 20, and my best weight gain was probably this summer on TNT stack (Mainly the divanil to free up my testosterone).

18 was my best year, but seeing as how i just turned 19 thats not saying much. But I have to say I train much more than people recommend and have never experienced any symptoms of over training. I've tried lightening up on the volume but my body doesn't respond.
From reading this and personal experience it seems like during the summer people make the best gains, does this seem accurate and does anyone know why?

I didn't even lift from when i was 20-25.. which i am now, and i am stronger now than I was when i was 20 without even working out at all... can't wait for my first 6 week workout in over 5 years... almost done with week 2!! after a workout some of my shirts don't even fit..

it seems from this that it depends on when people become the most focused and serious about it, which can be any age. i was curious about an answer to this too, but im not sure. im only 21 but i think im fairly close to being at my strongest. theres not really anything else i can change to make much progress, my workouts are way more intense than anyone i know and my diet and training is pretty clean. kinda depressing then that im not gonna gain a whole lot more. i gained a lot fo strenght recently and im maxing out many of the weights in my gyms. oh well, il see. so in response to this it doesnt really seem to be any inherent age issue, just depends on when people become the most dedicated? i could be wrong lol

Yea the only thing wrong with that theory is that, I have been very dedicated for a few years now, and I'm not 215lbs lol. I think its just maturity and learning what things work best for your own body.

I'm 43 and I'm still surprizing myself with some of the things I do.Stay strong and young in your mind and your body will follow.Up the Iron!!!

I was the strongest I have ever been at 45 years old. Though I gave up powerlifting, I can still lift some pretty big weights for any age and I am 52.
