Now that I think about it this article makes a lot of sense to me. It's actually one of the things that deterred me from going into an exercise program vs the degree path I'm on now.

I found it much more informative to get in and work with people under the tutelage of a CSCS that worked with elite athletes. I sought out the position for my internship and learned more by working with people taking my own clients, athletes etc than I could have learned in a textbook by faaaarrrrrr. Now my path which I think is a smart one that was kind of highlighted in that article is much more science based which I am enjoying and if at any point in time after I'm done with my BS before Physician Assistant school I can challenge the exam for CSCS and obtain that credential. The CSCS credential in my eyes is much more valuable than any personal trainer type position or degree. IIRC Dave Tate is a CSCS, among many other highly respected coaches, not trainers but coaches
