  1. UFC 78 Picks Contest!

Here we go. Same rules as always, pick a winner for all fights(2 points per correct pick), pick method of victory(KO, Sub, or Decision),(1 point per correct method of victory pick, only if you pick the winner of the fight correctly), pick the time you think the main event will end, this is the tiebreaker, if necessary.

    UFC 78 "Validation"

Michael "The Count" Bisping vs Rashad "Sugar" Evans
Thiago Silva vs Houston "The Conehead Assassin" Alexander
Joe "El Dirte" Doerkson vs Ed "Short Fuse" Herman
Ryo "Piranha" Chonan vs Karo "The Heat" Parisyan
Frank "The Answer" Edgar vs Spencer "The King" Fisher

Chris "Lights Out" Lytle vs Thiago "The Pitbull" Alves
Jason Reinhardt vs Joe "J-Lau" Lauzon
Luke "Lil Hulk" Caudillo vs Marcus "Maximus" Aurelio
Akihiro "The Japanese Sensation" Gono vs Tamden "The Barn Cat" McCrory

Picks are due by Saturday night at 9pm. Rep the winner.

  2. I think this will be one of the best picks contests. Every fight is hard to call IMO. A lot of contests their are 3 or 4 people with the exact same picks, I don't see that happening on this one. Waaaaaaaaaaaaaaar "The Barn Cat"!

  3. The Barn Cat is a nasty fighter. I'll definitely be picking him. I was just looking at Bodog's lines, b/c I was thinking about dropping a few bucks on some fights, but these really are hard to call. I was surprised that Edgar is favored over Fisher.

Does anyone know what the minimum bets are on those sites?

  4. Rashad "Sugar" Evans (Majority Decision)
Houston "The Conehead Assassin" Alexander (KO)
Ed "Short Fuse" Herman (Split Decision)
Karo "The Heat" Parisyan (TKO ground and pund)
    Spencer "The King" Fisher (TKO)
    Thiago "The Pitbull" Alves (Submission)
    Joe "J-Lau" Lauzon (TKO)
Luke "Lil Hulk" Caudillo (Split decision)
Tamden "The Barn Cat" McCrory (submission)

  5. I'm doing research on this one. I'm going to put down some kay-ash on this one tambien.

    For Bodog, it's a $1 minimum and a $500 maximum per fight.

Online Casinos usually take a few business days to credit one's account on a opening deposit. Read the details on both deposits and withdrawls for US customers carefully.

Here's two sites that track the good and bad casinos, and their policies - SBR - Sportsbook Review; SBR Reviews TheOnlineWire - The gambling guide to everything you can bet on and where to bet online

and here is a site that tracks the odds at some of the bigger offshore books on upcoming events

  7. Bisping by TKO Rd. 3 2:30
Thiago Silva (by Sub: he's done it before, and Houston has been subbed)
Ed "Short Fuse" Herman (total tossup, but I bet Herman is hungry)
    Chonan
Frank "The Answer" Edgar (future of the LWs)
Thiago "The Pitbull" Alves (by brutal sleepytime)
Joe "J-Lau" Lauzon (by sub from an unexpected position)
Marcus "Maximus" Aurelio (by human pretzel)
"The Bahhhhn Cat" (by monkey arms TKO)

Edited to put Chonan over Karo and Bisping over Rashad, simply b/c I want them to win. This is my betting with the heart over the mind contest.

  8. Thanks for the links, Roguie!

Looks like the only fights that have good betting potential are the Bahn Cat, who is listed at about +200 on Pinnacle and Bodog, and Chonan, who is at +300. I think they both have a better chance than the odds suggest. Two ten dollar bets wouldn't be a bad idea.

  9. You are welcome, it does pay to do the research - Pinnacle no longer accepts US customers and Bodog only pays out, to Americans, by check, with a fee and a 5 to 6 week wait time, or so those sites say.

The Justice Department's pressure on both the casinos and the money transfers agents have really complicated things for US Internet gamblers.

The easiest and most secure way to sports bet here is to have a trusted friend in Vegas to work with.

  10. Rashad - TKO
    Alexander - KO
    Doerkson - Dec
    Chonan - Dec
    Fisher - TKO
    Alves - Sub
    Lauzon - Sub
    Aurelio - TKO
    Gono - Sub

what do i get since i will win?

  11. A lesson in humility?

Not acccording to Beo - he says if you win twice, Hollywood will make a movie about you and throw in a naked Angelina Jolie to play with.

  17. I hate Houston Alexander. His style is way to technically unsound to survive for long. I hope he gets caught and humbled, and his annoying bangwagon crumbles.

  31. Caudillo over Aurelio? Interesting....

Interesting.......or just plain stupid? We'll find out soon, I'm thinking the latter.

  33. Looks like Rodja is gonna take it at 9 for 9. Alex's ingenious Caudillo pick screwed his chances.

  34. It was the latter. Pretty dissapointing event IMO. I really like Lauzon, always exciting. A bit of a letdown, I'm gonna go watch the 2003 Pride GP opening round card to satisfy my MMA needs. I've always wondered why Cnorris doesn't participate in any of our picks contests?

  35. Results:

    Rodja-24
    Rogue-21
    Vanovich-18
    Dancebot-18
    Jas-17
    Firefighter-15
    "I am" Beowulf-14
    Reaper-14
    Avenue Red-13
    Warriorway-12
    Size-11
    Vika-11
    Mullet-10(pathetic)
    SWG-10
Lightning-6(record setting low score, sorry brah)

Everyone rep Rodja, the man is on a roll.

  36. Wow, first Rodja wins his fight, and then he wins the even more highly esteemed UFC 78 Picks Contest at AM. What's next, Strikeforce LW Tourney Champ?????

Rogue did a hell of a job, too. 21 points is a high score. We all seem to be improving with our picks.

I originally had Rashad by UD, Karo by boring a$$ UD, so I would have only been wrong on picking McCrory, who apparently took it to Gono big time in the 1st and the beginning of the 2nd.

  37. Rodja says October is a special month for him, apparently it has shifted to November, maybe he's just a Fall type of guy.

It has this year. I just hope this hot streak keeps going. My training has been going really well and I have managed to avoid injuries.:bruce1:

You found your mojo, keep it going. I haven't found my mojo in about 6 years

My social life kinda sucks at this moment so I am channeling all of my frustration into training.
