It won't make it worse, but you'll need to address the hip flexibility. Easiest way: buy a foam roller and do some yoga.M.Ed. Ex Phys

ok cool, thanks for the advice! would doing the exercises improve my kicking strength/speed do you think?

With crappy hips, you won't be able to kick fast or hard.
