Definitely a great fight. I'm giving it to Couture for the win.

I think it's going to be boring....it will be machida trying to weave in and out avoiding takedowns, and couture trying to take machida down. Eventually he will, and he will gnp hm out or submit him.....

Wow, you guys really believe the 50 year old has a chance against the weasel?

LOL...Going to be interesting I think

I don't think Shields can take down GSP and I think GSP dominates the stand up.

it will definitely be an awesome fight. Everyone loves to see Couture get back in the octagon, but I think Machida will take the win. Couture has heart but he is too old and rusty. I'm more looking forward to the GSP vs Shields fight, i have a hunch GSP might be loosing his prime.

Shields can take GSP down up against the cage. Rewached Sheilds vs Daily where he kept dropping down for the single leg when Daily threw punches. That's not going to work on GSP.

Yeah I've been watching primetime. That show has done really good at promoting the fights and the fighter. I think alot of people will be suprised at how good Jose Aldo really is.

Just watched UFC countdown. Aldo highlights look sick. Hope Homminick can deal with those leg kicks.

Great looking card. I'm from Toronto but watching it PPV.

I watched the weigh ins and Bendo came in at 156.5. I read on another forum that he had to shave his head to make weight, lol.

Looking forward to the fights tonight. I have always loved Couture but he really is old and I'm surprised every time time White puts him back in the octagon. GSP can't be as sharp as he's been forever...I agree that this may be the time we start to see GSP past his prime.

Couture goes down from a really scary front kick to the face - karate kid style. Hated to see it, but it's definitely time for Couture to call it wrap. He sounded pretty convincing after the loss that he wouldn't be back, so I think we've seen him for the last time - great fighter, tho.

Lyoto's kick saved the card. Never been so excited from watching a card.

I gotta say I just dont understand the gameplans against GSP. Shields only attempted 6 takedowns?
Also, GSP is starting to bother me a bit. He never seems to have a sense of urgency about finishing a fight. Not that the opportunity presented itself last night, but it would be nice for him to finish a fight rather than apologizing afterwards for not finishing. I have a great deal of respect for him, and he is one of the greatest 170lbers ever, but sheesh.
Now he will fight Diaz (DW wants to make it happen) and he will get a decision against him as well. I hate to say it, but I wont pay for a card with GSP on it until he fights at 185.

I wonder how bad the eye injury is for GSP?

My sentiments exactly - I was bored to tears watching that fight. I like GSP, but it was kinda good to at least see him LOOK like he was in fight when it was over. He seems perfectly content to get a decision.
I did enjoy the Aldo fight, tho. Hominick had a chance to pull that one out in the 5th, but gassed. Can't question his toughness, that's for damn sure! That baseball on his forehead was SICK!

Hopefully my source is better than the one I got from Sherdog about Bendo...
GSP's eye filled with blood, but there's no "serious damage"
Posted By Anton Gurevich UFC News
Speaking on MMAWeekly.com Radio, Firas Zahabi (GSP's head trainer) gave an update on Georges St. Pierre's injury, revealing that the UFC Welterweight Champ's left eye is filled with blood, but there's no serious damage such as detached retina. Georges St. Pierre was hit (or poked) in the eye by Jake Shields in Round 3, which resulted in a blurred vision for the rest of the fight. But despite getting injured, the French-Canadian managed to remain in control, leaving the Octagon with a Unanimous Decision victory and his sixth UFC Welterweight title defense:
“The doctors were very worried it was a detached retina because they couldn’t see inside his eye. They flashed the light inside his eye and normally they’re supposed to be able to see inside the eye, but the eye was filled with obstructions. The doctor was saying he couldn’t see inside, so he needed to go to a specialist. Luckily it was just blood in the eye and not the detached retina. This occurred after the swipe to the face.
The doctors are saying he’s going to have a complete recovery. I’m really happy with that. He just can’t do any training for 10 days, he has medication to take, and he has to do this treatment, and then they’re going to reassess him in 10 days, but they say he’s going to make a full recovery.”
Ten days or not, Georges St. Pierre was suspended by The Ontario Ministry of Consumer Services for 60 days, and requires an approval of an ophthalmologist before he can return to action (source:BloodyElbow.com). According to rumors, Georges St. Pierre's next opponent could be the Strikeforce Welterweight Champion Nick Diaz, probably sometime this Fall. Nick Diaz is currently on a 10-fight winning streak, with 6 TKO and 3 Submission finishes.
