Wonder how to convert units, nmol/L --> mg/dL
I tried Quest, they do not have it, page 313:
http://www.questdiagnostics.com/hcp/intguide/EndoMetab/EndoManual_3rdEd_2004.pdf

My Quest test shows:
Lipoprotein (A) Lp(A)-30.7nmol/L(<75.0)
LEF (LabCorp) recomended range for men
Print Friendly
Reference Ranges: 0–30 mg/dL
Desirable: <20mg/dL
Borderline High Risk: 20–30 mg/dL
High Risk: 31–50 mg/dL
Very High Risk: >50 mg/dL
================================================
55.0 nmol/L corresponds to 22.9 mg/dL
=30.7/55*22.9=12.8mg/dL
=================================
But I found this tidbit:

Kidney International - Race-specific association of lipoprotein(a) with vascular access interventions in hemodialysis patients: The CHOICE Study
The Lp(a) concentrations were expressed in nmol/L of Lp(a) protein. Because of the high degree of size heterogeneity of apo(a), it is not possible to accurately convert Lp(a) values from nmol/L to mg/dL. However, as a point of reference, the median Lp(a) protein level of 55.0 nmol/L found in our patient cohort, approximately corresponds to 22.9 mg/dL of total Lp(a) mass.

Lisa was found to have an abnormally high lipoprotein (a), or Lp(a), level of 85 mg/dl.
Lisa’s treatment program therefore focused on lowering her Lp(a) using:

Niacin—3000 mg of oral Niaspan® (Niaspan® is the prescription form of vitamin B3/niacin) once a day along with 325 mg of aspirin to limit flushing.

L-carnitine—1000 mg twice a day; lowers Lp(a) 7-8%

Flaxseed—2 tbsp per day, ground; lowers Lp(a) 7%

Raw almonds—1/4-1/2 cup per day; lowers Lp(a) 7-10%

Fish oil capsules—4000 mg/day (to yield 1200 mg of omega-3 fatty acids); lowers Lp(a) up to 14%.

Of note, statin drugs actually lower Lp(a).
last thing i need to do is lower cholesterol its already 120 LOL
Estrogen may be culprit could be either high or low.
Give fact copper is in toilet makes me think it could be low or
my t:e ratio is out of wack

I found 2 journal articles stating estrogen lowers and then it can also increase it .. :frustrate Given short term memory it could go both ways..UGH. .I just got blood work done so be paitent and have to wait..sigh

"Both tamoxifen and estrogen lower Lp(a) levels"

Interesting. So BOTH estrogen, and estrogen antagonism elevate Lp(a).
Dr John,

Im was just reading the other day about some very fascinating stuff that links the AI tamoxifen to some very potent anti cancer abilities. I wonder if this is now your AI of choice

So you know what to do,
now comes the implementing phase.

Would coconut oil help?

EVCO will raise good cholesterol if low and lower it if high so yes. it would. I eat eggs out the yazoo and steak ect and still nada. adrenal fatigue would cause it too

The way I am thinking:
cholesterol is a first building block.
If one does not have cholesterol he do not have moterial that in need to fabricate other hormones.
Fix cholesterol first.

what about vitamin d also? I too have very low cholesterol and am trying to raise it. But ive always heard that food cholesterol does not affect cholesterol levels that much.

are you suggesting just eating like **** for a while to raise it? or anything more 'substantive'

Estrogen raises intracellular manganese which raises cholesterol production.

find out if you have glucose metabolism problem..similar to inuslin resistance

Take flax seed if you want to lower Free T, induce estrogenic effects, and increase your risk of prostate cancer. Many cannot tolerate it, especially if thye already have GI issues.
i thought flax was healthier, why would they cause these problems?
