this will be quick... after my last GP app't i got him to do more blood work, i handed him the printed JanSz sheet, but he just picked what he thought was crucial..i talked him into 3 others, but i feel i need to add 6 more...

this is what he has written...

SHBG
ESTRONE
ESTRADIOL
DHT
PROLACTIN
FSH
LH

i want to add
albumin....although he said we tested that b4?
free t4
free t3....do i need the totals of these for them to make sense
dhea
cortisol.....if its not a pain in my ass, can it be a single blood draw?
IGF-1...do i write it like that or SOMATOMEDIN C??
and pregenolone or progesterone...which is more important?

I JUST WANT TO MAKE SURE WHEN I SEE THE UROLOGIST, HE DOESNT WANT TO SEND ME FOR BLOOD WORK, BECAUSE I HAVE IT ALL DONE ALREADY!!!

THANKS GUYS

For your initial blood work, Dr John recommends you get the below items checked.

• Total Testosterone
• Bioavailable Testosterone (AKA “Free and Loosely Bound”)
• Free Testosterone (if Bioavailable T is unavailable)
• SHBG
• DHT
• Estradiol (specify “ultrasensitive” assay for males)
• LH
• FSH
• Prolactin
• Cortisol
• Thyroid Panel
• CBC
• Comprehensive Metabolic Panel
• Lipid Profile
• PSA (if over 40)
• IGF-1 (if HGH therapy is being considered)

Matter of fact, you should demand he test you for these items! Remember, you are the one paying his salary. Tell him what you want.....don't ask.

The uro may disregard a lot of those tests because they are tests that uros and other mainstream docs do not think are important - free T3, free T4, IGF-1. It doesn't mean you shouldn't get them done for your own information, but the uro, unless he's a very unusual uro, will probably ignore them.
