TRT and Fertility

Hello, recently I went to my primary doctor and informed her of some issues I was having(fatigue, head fog, erectile issues, mood swings and lack of motivation). After discussing she decided to run full blood work on me(pulled 6 vials of blood). I went back in for follow up Monday and my lipids, heart, lungs, kidneys, thyroid and everything else came back perfect. However, my testosterone levels came back at TT- 286ng/dl(not sure FSH/LH came in at due to the results she had on the computer and I forgot to ask for a copy of that as she provided all other blood work on paper). I am 26 years old, and have experienced all these symptoms for the majority of adulthood. She stated she didn't see any reason for my results to come back as low as they had, however due to the low levels she prescribed me 200mg test cyp biweekly, or 100mg weekly depending on how I felt with both. I only received 2 syringes with my first prescription(2x1ml vials- I will be changing pharmacies next month that will allow me to pick up the full prescribed 10ml vial) therefore I have decided to try the 200mg biweekly for now- but plan to switch to the 100mg weekly in the future. My wife delivered the 1st injection Monday night around 5pm- and I had trouble going to bed(was very energetic- possibly placebo? due to minimal time from shot). Today, I can say I am feeling vastly better- improved mood, head fog has been virtually erased and I even was able to get off the couch and get in the gym last night(workout went amazing), and erectile problems were non existent last night. My wife and I are both incredibly excited about the changes in my well being. We do have 1 primary concern though- since we are trying to have our first child, we are nervous about the TRT making me infertile. We have been trying for a year and a half now already(previous relationship was for 3 years- not using any form of birth control and she did not get pregnant), so we feel my sperm volumes were low to begin with. I have researched TRT in the past as I have been worried about my levels for years now but I never had the nerve to talk about it, and I found that HCG injections could be used while on TRT to preserve fertility, however I have found research stating that nolvadex and clomid could be used during TRT as well to preserve or increase fertility. I know that TRT is not guaranteed to make me infertile, but does anyone have personal experience using HCG/Clomid/or nolvadex in conjunction with TRT to improve fertility? We are planning to visit a fertility specialist to get a analysis done soon, but currently financially we are unable(not sure if my insurance will cover this).

Also with the 10ml vial- does it come with a resealable cap? The 1ml vials cap just popped off and didn't seem to reseal, or is it ok to store with just the rubber stopper exposed?

I have gone same route as you. I was on test for a year I am 33 married 9 years and my wife is finally pregnant. We have tried since we have been married. When I brought this concern of infertility they switched me to clomid. After two months they decided on hcg 2000 in 2x a week it acts like LH making your testes produce more testosterone therefore making your semen healthier. Alot of the problem was my wife also but my semen morphology and mobility was wag below. You need a semen analysis that will tell you what you need to do but if trying to have kids. You should be on something to help your natural production. The amount of test prescribed they could add hcg and clomid.

Congratulations Utah! great to hear after all that time it finally worked out for you two! I have follow up labs in 3 months to check on my test levels and will let my doctor know about my concerns, she has always been helpful in the past with issues, but I am one of those people that are nervous to bring things up. I am not sure if she does prescribe any other form of treatment for TRT, she did say that they will not issue creams, since it is hard to determine exactly what is being absorbed. If not, I assume a fertility clinic could prescribe the clomid and or hcg alongside my TRT. I will discuss this with her beforehand regardless.

Good luck let me no how it goes. Neither clomid or hcg comes as a cream. But you will want to see a fertility doctor or if there is a fertility trial at a university near you. They will do labs and semen analysis on you and you get paid. Best wishes.

I will look into that! Yeah I understand clomid is a pill and hcg is an injection, sorry for the confusion, just was stating I'm unsure if they prescribe anything other that Test Cyp for TRT. Again, thanks for sharing your personal experiences!

May I suggest going to ExcelMale and PeakTestosterone dot com websites. Both have tons of great information on TRT and fertility, etc.

At your age, you should go to a good Endo or an integrative medicine Dr and find out WHY you have low T. Also if you have to be on TRT, 200 bi-weekly is totally wrong. Go with 100 mgs a week or even split it and do 50 every 3.5 days. It will keep your levels more stable and won't have a crash. You'll also be able to dial in your protocol easier. But seriously, at your age, unless you've been cycling gear, try to find out the cause of your low t before getting on TRT.

Since you want kids, find the nerve and bring it up to a good doctor and leave TRT after you have done with kids. If you are trying with no luck and have that low test, I dont need to describe how hard it will be to have kinds after you start TRT.

Clomid and hCG are two common methods. Pray that they will be enough for you. I wish the best of luck
