Does anyone know a good doctor specializing in Low T in the Baltimore area?

My Total Testosterone is 344 and my Free Testosterone in 86 (35-100 Range). The urologist I've seen, as well as my primary care doctor, did not want to test for any other hormones, except my primary doctor did test LH and it came back as 4.0; however the urologist told me it's not necessary to test for estrogen when dealing with low t and insisted I'm in the "normal" range.

Unfortunately we can't share doctor names. Have you checked out privatemdlabs dot com? For $65 you can have the "female hormone panel" run that gives you CBC, CMP, E2, TT, LH and FSH.

Well, I found two doctors when searching online. It seems they are the only two close. One of them is a male fertility urologist that is listed as treating testosterone deficiency and the other is an anti-aging doctor that lists that he does HCG. Now I'm wondering if I should goto the antiaging doctor first, or try the urologist that specializes in fertility. The Anti-aging doctor is also an ex-marine, so maybe he'd understand the importance of being strong better than the other guy. *shrugs*

Okay, I am definitely calling the anti-aging doctor. He even offers treatment with IGF-1. He offers everything from HGH to Clomid.

Update: Okay, so the anti-aging doctor does not take insurance and the urologist is no longer there; so I'm seeing his replacement...in July. It cost $650 jsut for pellets from the anti-aging doctor. I'm going to continue to call around and I guess I'll have to get my levels super low somehow before anyone will help me.

Why do pellets? Why don't you do injections? They're easier, cheaper and tried and true.

I can't afford either. I think injections($300 according to this doctor) MIGHT be covered by medicare, but from what I understand I'd have to pay him for them, since he doesn't accept insurance; despite his ads on medical sites. PLUS $160 per visit. I'm a college student and can't afford it.

Somebody in another form told me to go pay out of pocket and get blood work at a lab and tell them what I want tested. The guy who told me this isn't in the US. Would I be able to even do this? I'm never heard of having blood work done without a referral, unless it's to test for HIV at a clinic. Also, would an Aromatase Inhibitor work, is there a possibility? I know there are several OTC AIs, but of course I won't know if I should even take them, esepcially long term without first getting full blood work. Here are some other values from my original test(the one my Primary gave me). She didn't want to test estrogen, or cortisol, but here's some other values she did test. My TT came back as 395 when I got these other values. When the urologist tested me, he only tested Total T and Free T and wouldn't test anything else.

Very easy. You create an account on their website, select the "female hormone panel", add it to your cart, apply the discount (search for it 15% off) and pay. They send you blood work orders via message on website. You take the orders to any LabCorp for blood draw. You get the results via their website in a couple days. Make sure you fast and do it as early in the morning as possible.

Shiznown,

You can buy labs from Lifeextension they will send you to a Labcop for the blood test.

http://www.lifeextension.com/Vitamins-Supplements/Blood-Tests/Blood-Tests

As for Shots of Test C they are very cheep just get a scrapt and buy some needles and do them you self.

It's getting the script that's the hard part. I'm going to call another doctor tomorrow. She specializes in Men's fertility and has good reviews. Sadly, I can't find any reviews on the subject of doctors doing TRT. I feel like i'm the only guy around that even has to deal with this. If she doesn't help, I'll go pay for the labs myself and I MIGHT try and run an AI and while on it take another lab. It's risky, but if I can't get help; I can't get help.

This doctor that I'm going to call has a blog about giving HCG injections and talks about how testosterone injections lower sperm count, which I knew. I don't care about being sterile though, but hey if HCG works it works. I rather have a serm to avoid needles altogether though.

Unless you're wanting to have kids at some point, HCG is not needed in TRT. It's sides out weigh its benefits.

Yeah, like I stated; I rather just take clomid. Just on her blog she seems to heavily favor HCG over testosterone shots.

Most guys are so concerned about testicle size while on TRT that doctors prescribe HCG. The HCG helps maintain testicle size but messes with estrogen level as a side.

Try and keep the hcg doses low and frequent to avoid estrogen sides . 100 iu every day or 250 iu twice weekly should not mess with your estrogen .

I'm actually concerned about testicle size actually...I don't want raisin nuts lol. Couldn't I just take a low dose AI to reduce the estrogen? Although, that would seem pretty pointless, if I could just take clomid and an AI. I'm hoping to get my levels up in the low 700s, or at least mid 600 range. I'm not sure what to expect, or what this doctor will want to get me up to, if she even wants to help. I did read that HCG can cause swelling in the legs and feet. I just had foot surgery and I'm in PT to get swelling down. Also, I have to get the other foot done and I don't know if I can take any of this stuff aroudn the time I have my next surgery in a month or so. I do feel like sh*t though and don't want to wait until after my next surgery to get my T levels up. I have a lot of low T symptoms, but I have a very high libido. I'm wondering why that could be.

I have low T. I forget which is which but my normal range is 300 something. With clomid at 50mg 3x a week and 1 arimidex per day I am at like 650 or 700 which was the low end for my age but where I should be. We are waiting to see if we have any kids before test injections.

Mine always checks estrogen.

Should I try and endocrinologist? I'm getting absolutely nowhere with urologists. Part of the reason is, most of the urologists in my area are associated with this one organization and seem to just go by their guidelines and basically are not specialists in the Low T field, or not willing to help. I tried searching for an endourology and get doctors in different states, which being a college student and not having a car makes it impossible for me to get to them. I found some "internal medicine" doctors that according to this site prescribe T gel. I don't want T gel, but if they proscribe that than odds are they proscribe other things. I just sent a request for info from college pharmacy.

I've seen guys with high libido and no ED with lower TT and medium FT ranges. I've also seen guys with high T and free T with no libido, there are many factors at play. When my TT was in the gutter, I still had libido and good wood in ranges 300-500 TT.

Well, I talked to my primary doctor and I have an appointment tomorrow. I don't know if she's going to send me to see someone, but she is going to give me the right blood work. That's a start at least and will at least tell me if an AI will work. I'm going to tell her I want all this tested. If I'm missing something, please let me know.

What sides are we talking here?
Conversion of test to estrogen which increases E2 level. With the conversion of test to estrogen it makes it hard to dial in your protocol with level of test to inject and finding the proper amount of AI to take.

frequent injections, daily or EOD keeping it low should really help with not elevating E2 levels. I would say that Testosterone would be more of a culprit elevating E levels. I ran a topical and it only got my TT in the 500's, was running hcg 3x weekly at 250 IU and my E level sensitive stayed in the 20's. It wasn't until I went on Cypionate and saw my TT creep over 1000 that I saw my E levels climb into the 30's and early 40's. This all depends on the person as well and bodyfat levels. HCG is pretty well tolerated by most men I have come across but the key to estrogen control is low and frequent, same can be applied to Testosterone as well.

Isn't HCG pretty expensive though? I was reading someone in another forum state they had to pay over $100 per vial and that's after most places wantign to charge him $600 per vial. I have to live off of $759 a month, so that's not going to work. That's another reason I'm hoping I can get clomid and it works for me. What's the general price for Testosterone?

Most guys on this forum that are on TRT have cut HCG out of their protocol.

Which is fine because it's not "necessary" but if you want to keep your balls full, LH pathways, and fertility going you gotta consider HCG.

Update: I am getting my blood drawn in a few hours and am currently fasting. I only got about 3 hours of sleep and cannot sleep any longer, especially due to being hungry and having to wait to eat. Anyway, I checked out the slips and my doctor forgot to put down cortisol. Is it even worth trying to get cortisol done? Here is what she has down to be tested:
Testosterone, Free, Total and Bioavailable
Sex Hormone Blinding Globuin
Comprehensive Medical Panel
Complete Blood Count (CBC) + Auto Off
Iron, TIBC, % Transferrin Saturation
Prolactin
Follicle Stimulating Hormone, Serum
Lutenizing Hormone, Serum
TSH
Estradiol

College pharmacy got back to me and there was only two doctors listed...in Southern Maryland. That's 50 plus miles away, at least. I don't have a car, I can't take the bus to those doctors and no one is going to drive me that far...Is there another pharmacy site I could use? I live in the Baltimore County area. I can take buses to the city and get a ride to other counties if need be, I just sadly can't get a ride to the other end of the whole state.

Joined excelmale. I'm using that site, this site and T-nation for help. How are "Internal Medicine" doctors? I saw a list of them in my area on a T gel advertisement website. Obviously, I don't want T gel, but if they prescribe T gel, they prescribe other T treatment I'm sure.

I see an endocrinologist in Baltimore, but he's really conservative (didn't decide to go with TRT for me until I fell below 200 and stuck with topical gel until after two consecutive annual screenings showed levels around 300). Ultimately he agreed to switch me to test e injections after the insurance company refused to cover high dosing of the topical gel. I'm pretty satisfied at this point, but it was a LONG time getting here. I think you need to be both articulate and very assertive with my guy, and I think most folks have a much easier path than I did, so I'd keep checking around in your situation.

As for insurance, I have BC/BS for federal workers, and I the injectible test is dirt cheap ($15 copay for approximately 90 day supply under the mail order pharmacy plan.)

Its really not that bad if you get it from compounding pharmacy. I pay about $75 for a 2-3 month supply of HCG with P-5-P added in already prepared.

I came up with an idea if I can't find a doctor, or an affordable treatment plan. Buy an OTC AI, experiment with the dosage and try half dose of whatever the dosage is. Go pay for the cheapest online lab slips($67) to test T levels and Estradiol about every three months. Don't cycle off if everything looks good. This is assuming my estradiol is high, which it probably is.
