So I got my first treatment from the specialist

In my first blood sample I was way below normal. In my other blood tests I was at the bottom of the normal spectrum. I know all of this is very vague and I will write and request that I get a copy of my exact numbers so I can show them here. Anyways my doctor said I was a good candidate for treatment considering my history, my physical apperence and my blood tests. I got Testim 50 mg / 5 gram prescribed to me. I have to wait for a scan of my pituitary gland before I can take it. She said it was more or less a procedure to have all areas covered.

She wants me to take half a dosis daily for the first run and then she will do some more blood tests 3 months from now. She said it was because it differed a lot from person to person how well you recieved the product. She also said that in my case I most likely have missed T my whole life, so it would take some time for me to mentally adjust to the extra T.

Does anyone here have any comments about the product she prescribed to me, or the dosis, or just my case in general? I am curious what some of you with more experience thinks about the whole thing.

She also mentioned that at some point I could get an injection instead every 3 months. However it seems that most people I've read about inject like once or twice a week?

Testim is a great product. Half a dose does not seem right. 5grams is one tube. 1/2 tube I don't feel will be efficacy. It's thick so make sure you put half tube on one arm and half the other. Use two finger tips to rub in. The more skin area the better. And rub it in like suntan lotion. It takes about 30 sec but application is key. If not it will be sticky and will cling to your clothes. I can't
Stress that enough. There is a product called Aveed which is an long acting injectable lasts 10 weeks. Or testopel which are implantable pellets in your butt that last 3-4 months. Both work very well too.

Also I don't know why she is waiting 3 months to recheck levels. Endocrine guidelines suggest a blood draw after 30 days to see levels. If you are not at adequate levels you have to wait 90 days. That's a lot of wasted time and you not feeling good. She does not seem on the ball to me. I would ask to be rechecked after 30 days. And I am almost certain 1/2 tube will not be enough.

Hey Dcuozzo. Thanks for your response. She seemed very much like she wanted to play ball. But maybe they just have a careful procedure? I am from scandinavia and I know they can be kind of more cautious when it comes to medicin up here. Why she is waiting 3 months I do not know. But the nurse that spoke to me about applying the product and such made it sound like it was standard. Maybe it's just our health care system that is slow. Not sure. I have to get my blood drawn in december. And then I will most likely not get the results till several weeks after that.

Fair enough but don't be surprised if your still Low. Nebido is the name of the long Acting injectable in Europe. FYI

I started out with Androgel and it helped for the first 3 months. Ended up going to IM injections twice a week and haven't looked back! They are tried and true. Not knocking anyone that uses gels or the pellets but injections are tried and true. Gels you have to be very careful about contaminating people. Have to take a shower before you do the nasty with the old lady, but have to be sure you had the gel on long enough to get its effects. Bad part about pellets is if your level gets too high, you're stuck with them.

Sammpedd88 I would have no problem doing injections. I am not scared of needles either, but she didn't even bring it up as an option. But I guess this is a long process and at some point i'm sure i'll ask her about them. Right now I am just happy I get some gel to potentially help me.

Glad to see she is willing to help. I would suggest that you ask her about injecting now. Most doctors don't bring it up because they assume the patient is scared of injecting. Great websites to research from are excelmale dot com and PeakTestosterone dot com. Good luck with your treatment.

I totally understand man! I went to a urologist who made me stop Androgel for two months just so he could take his own blood work to ensure I was low. What an idiot. He even told me I would feel like ****. I gave up on him and started going to an integrative medicine dr. They are wonderful. Keep us posted man and don't be afraid to ask your dr about your treatment. Use this forum to gain knowledge so you can get what you need in your TRT protocol.

Yeah sounds like you did the right thing.

Hmm I don't know if the following is placebo or what. But I already feel some improvements after 3 days use. This might be "too much information", but I noticed some pretty ladies on the train on my way to work and I could feel a little bit of action going on down there, which I never feel. I haven't felt as tired either. But again... this could just be my mind playing tricks on me. I really am not certain about it. Especially since it has only been 3 days.

I could tell a difference a few days after taking preg and DHEA. I'm telling you, IMHO, it is the missing link to TRT!

I have no clue what preg and DHEA is? Anything I should ask my doctor about. And what does it do?

Pregnenolone and DHEA are hormones that are also related to testosterone. While on TRT the levels drop. Yes ask your doc about it and see if he will do blood tests for it.

Now I just need to look up all of those different hormones ;). That's why we need good specialists. So normal people like me can just rely on their knowledge :-D
