A ? about Natural Remedies

I'm being seen by a pain specialist and they actually recognize low test as being an issue with patients that take pain medications. So, that's good. They did a blood test and my Testosterone is 133.74, and Free Test is 0.0799. So, we both agree I am a candidate for HRT. Now, here's the where I have a question. They work with a treatment center that uses Natural Remedies. I'm talking about stuff that's in multivitamins and supplements I already take daily. Should I totally dismiss this as an option and get a referral to another HRT (Endo) Center or give it a try? Has anyone went to a place that uses a "natural" approach with diet, exercise, and supplements? And, what were your results? I'm just having a hard time taking this seriously. I'm not sure if I am allowed to say the name of the place, so I won't until I know. They give a detailed summary of the ingredients in their "patented" supplement and I take every single thing that is listed. Thanks!

I think most if not all natural supplements cannot necessarily be confined (maybe they can patent a certain combo or a name for something besides it's natural name!?) to just one company to use. And yes, most OTC test boosters out, have more or less the same products, or the list of the natural products that are available to them all.

I am not sure about pain meds. and their relation to test levels!?, (if they suppress certain systems/brain/blood chemicals, sure) but I might guess too, that if a person is in pain and especially chronic pain, that would create stress and tension in different forms and certain stresses in the body, lower and raise certain hormone levels, ie: test, cortisol etc. etc.

I am all for a homeopathic route as an alternative to traditional medicines in appropriate situations. That being said, I would not associate with any clinic, doctor, or center that worked with another place selling their own products and agenda. You should go to a regular doctor and possibly an endo to begin exploring options.

In general, most, if not all, OTC test boosting products are useless and would only give a very minor boost if any. If you truly are running around with test below 200s, you need to look to fix that and the only real way is with real stuff.

Agreed.

Well, sleep, diet, and exercise are big factors in T levels. You should be working on those regardless of whether you use OTC or prescribed remedies. That said, I'd go to the endo.

Thanks everyone. Saw my regular Dr. this morning and she agrees, if I'm already taking these supplements, my diet is on track, and I live a healthy lifestyle then I need to see a specialist. So, I should have the referral in 2-5 days.

I'll update as I soon as I find out anything.

Ask lots of questions and be firm about any protocol they may suggest. As you well know, do not accept any TRT (if they go that route) that is not at least 1 inject a week or a plan for gel/cream. Also, insist on regular labs. When you are starting, you need to go at least every 3 months or more to determine where you are sitting.

If you have a good specialist, they will be ordering lots of lab work to determine if you may benefit from Clomid or another route.

Positive clinical studies have been performed individually on the following, each showing much promise in optimizing hormones levels, naturally. Whether it would for you, I do not know but I do know they have worked and are still working for many people on here and elsewhere. Obviously, there are sometimes other variables specific to each person that may influence the results but you should consider researching each of the below on a well known "publication of medical findings" website. You will be surprised with the blood work in test subjects of each study.

Safed Musli (Cholorophytum Borivilanium)
Tongkat Ali (Eurycoma Longifolia/Longjack)
Mucuna Prurians (L-Dopa/Velvet Bean)
Testosurge (Fenugreek extract standardized for Grecunin)

I will comment on my personal experience as I have used and still use some of these.

Safed Musli- I think it is completely useless and probably should have listened to most others experience that found the same. Absolutely no feeling from it at all. It is generally sold as a libido booster.
Tongkat Ali- yes and no. You need to run a high concentrate 100:1 or 200:1 in the 300-400mg range and that is expensive. I do like it and I do think that it works really well for libido and a general sense of well being. Needs to be cycled and you are looking at $70-100/mo.
Mucuna Pruriens- This is all of a sudden getting really popular around here. I've been taking it for about 10 years now and really enjoy it. Better sleep and helps with anxiety. I can't take it before bed, though. In the morning with food.
Testosurge- never tried this brand but another one with the same idea of the extraction. Did nothing for me. My wife loved Fenugreek when she was breast feeding though because it tripled her milk supply!

I will add that I ran labs and tried most of these when I was on the search for the answer before TRT and in the beginning. None of them did anything for actual test boosting and really are more mental.

A 200:1 longjack form a reliable source will cost you much less than you predict...maybe the prices have come down since you priced it last or more company's are sourcing it...but it's not that bad now at all.

Testosurge is a different extract of fenugreek...it's glycosides/grecunins and real world feedback with blood work supports it.

L-Dopa is super cheap and makes one feel good along with LH and Test boosting.

Thanks for the reply.

Do you have a recommended brand? When I have asked that of others, those they suggested were very pricey. If I knew it was the right stuff, I'd be willing to pay.

I second this question. If there is a good reliable brand with concentration levels and mgs that are similar and it is cheaper, please let us know. I like the stuff and would love to be able to find it cheaper.

Update

Went to a Urologist this morning. He is putting in a referral for an Endo.

I am in the Tricare (Military) system. This is why it's taking so long to get anywhere. The have a sequence of BS that has to be done in a certain order. That's why it has taken me years to get help.

Got my 2nd blood test results. Doc started me on 200mg/2weeks of Test Cyp. We also found that I had really low bone density. Did my first Inj on the 1st of April. Also, had my knee surgery on that day. So, I'll keep doing the shot 2x month and get tested again 3 months from now.

Are they allowing you to inject yourself? If so you should inject 100 mg once a week or even split the 100 mg onto two weekly injections e3d. You are going to crash after the first week.

Yeah, I inject myself. I'm going keep running it as is until my first blood test is ran. That way things can be adjusted from that reference point. Then, I do plan on pinning 1x week after everything is dialed in.

By no means am I an expert at TRT. I started injecting in January after being on gel for a few months. I started injecting 100 mgs once a week and switched to Wednesday morning and Saturday afternoon. I feel a lot better doing it that way than once a week. I'm currently using I3C for high E2 and will get my blood test back soon to see if it's working. As far as feeling like it's working I'm impressed. So just to confirm you are shooting 200mgs a week? That's a lot for TRT from what I've read, but if it works then so be it. But if you are having issues with sex drive ED or energy it could be from having too much T in your system. Lots of T also makes it harder to dial on E2. Keep us posted. This is actually the first time I've posted but have been reading the posts for months and have learned a lot!

You will very soon hate that protocol. By the time you are ready for your next shot, you will be as low as you were for the previous shot. The old school roller coaster effect. I would rather not be on at all.

Oh and as an update to the comments made by myself earlier on a good tongkat supplier- BLR is releasing theirs and it is the best one out there.

No, 200mg every 2 weeks.
Ok. How do you feel now? Can you tell a difference in energy or well being? You will definitely feel a crash after about 7-8 days and will continue to feel worse until your next injection. You may want to seriously consider doing an injection of 100 mgs each week.

I Know, just waiting for the first test to see if my dosage needs to be adjusted, then I'll pin weekly. Very few have had success at injecting bi-monthly.
