So my heels hurt after some strenuous lifting and running

Seems to be the Achilles, right at the base /back of the sole
What causes this generally, how can i avoid this problem?
Im thinking new shoes required as im very heel heavy but i literally couldnt walk last week, had to stand on my tip-toes!
