Abdominal Cramp

Whenever I perform sit up or an abdominal exercise my abs will begin to twitch, and when once I contract my abs it tightens up really bad and hurts to stretch it out. After a couple of minutes this will go away. I don't believe it's a hernia since I'm able to lift heavy and don't feel anything in my grind area.

Has this ever happened to anyone whenever they train abs?

This happens to me if I haven't been training abs often, or after a long break. Best thing to do is to take electrolytes and hit abs more often.

Id say that's why. Do a little every other day and see if it stops after two weeks. Once it goes away a 1 minute plank a few times a week will at least keep the cramps away.

I also just do shorter sets if I cramp up. For example, sets of 10 instead of 20 (if I'm cramping around rep 15 of something). That way I can keep working out if I experience any cramping. It'll usually diminish through the workout. Probably should start training your core every other day.

How's your hydration? I've had that happen but it's only if I'm dehydrated.

Hey dude. I experienced this in the lower abs and groin during recovery from an SI injury. In the end my chiro was able to make it disappear by releasing tension between vertebrae in my lumbar. Dunno if this helps, good luck.
