Possible Injury

About 2 weeks ago when after doing some decline sit-ups I went into the locker room to change. Anyway as I sat down I got an extreme pain in my lower abdomen down to the groin area. It was bad enough that somehow I was having trouble breathing. I was ready to call the guy behind the counter and tell them to call an ambulance. Didn't do it though and waited to see if it would pass. It did, but I still couldn't bend over enough to even change my sneakers. So I drove home and just dealt with it.

It didn't really hurt through that day just felt like something was "pulling"...It felt like some kind of knot was there. Now about 2 weeks later it seems it is still there whatever it is. Once in a while I get a tingling sensation in the same area. Yesterday it felt like I had a belt on even though I wasn't. It feels tight when I'm not even contracting that area. Another thing that is stange is it gets tighter after I eat. Especially when I stand up it feels as if there is rope going from my groin to below belly button area and it is being pulled on, like it is attached to my groin and as I straghten out I feel that pulling sensation. The numbness, tingling sensation I feel once in a while has me worried also. Just don't want to waste the time going to the doctor over something like this that just could be a pulled muscle....

That is what I thought, but wouldn't I still be in pain. I'm not in pain, uncomfortable yes, but not in pain at all. Just the strange sensations I have mentioned. Plus I have exercised after this, just not specific abdominal exercises.

Most variations of the sit-up can be bad for your back. It is possible you pulled your Psoas, which can also throw your pelvic out of whack.

This would be my guess also. Couldnt hurt to goto the doc and get checked for a hernia.

If I had a hernia wouldn't I be in horrible pain?. Just don't want to end up paying to hear I just pulled a muscle.

i know quite a few people who went years without even knowing they had hernia's. there's different kinds of hernias and different intensities of the injury. its worth the $15 insurance co-pay IMO

I made an appointment for next week regretfully. Anyway, thought I would let you guys know how terrible a workout I had Monday. I went to do some shoulder presses and put on the same weight I used the last week. I couldn't even budge it!. So I went down 10 pounds, still coulndn't...Went down to half the weight of the last time and still couldn't budge it!. I was so pissed I just phuckin left the gym after only being their for around 10 minutes!. Don't know how I lost so much strength so soon, wonder if it has anything to do with my possible injury. I was sick since feburary but I got anti-biotics and got better, except one thing. The cough I had since the begining of Feb., has not gone away.

No not necessarily. The symptoms you describe are fairly consistent with the possibility of an inguinal herniation. They can present slightly different in each person. Get in to see you dr. and get a good evaluation. If that is the case, they are very easy to fix surgically in our modern era.

Take it easy until you get in to see your dr. Adding additional stress will only exacerbate whatever you have going on. If it is indeed a hernia, you can make it worse and add potential complications.

bro i would see a doctor immediately. My hernia hardly hurt at all and didnt even bother me when i lifted or did abs. Hernias ussually dont cause that much pain as you said, but i guess they could cause a bad burning sensation. Ive pulled ab muscles and thats not what it feels like either. Id get to a doc as soon as possilbe, eating would almost have nothing to do with an ab pull or hernia either. Do u have a lump? i only found mine when poking my belly button. i had an umbilical hernia but ures sounds like an inguinial. Its a bit more serious and recovery sucks a bit more.
