| Registered User | I have been avoiding abdominal exercises for a while until monday. So now I guess I should continue to just avoid abdominal exercised. Still though, don't most exercises include use of the abdominals anyway?. I was doing leg press for instance on Monday and I did start to feel the twinging pretty bad. It didn't hurt but it was letting me know not to do abs. I actually did think about it for a while standing near the decline bench and just thought it wouldn't be a good idea. The reason I did it at home was to prove it to myself that something was really wrong. What I hate is waiting for my HMO to aprove this thing and waiting for blood results. I wanna get back in the gym and at least do cardio but I also have a cold. Also I don't want to just sit around and get fatter!. So I'm pretty frustrated. |

| Registered User | Yesterday in the supermarket while getting some cough medicine(been coughing like no tommorow because of this damn cold) I started feeling the twinges again and felt like I was gonna pass out. Sort of like a pulling sensation, so I went to wait in the car well my wife checked out. Didn't want have an "attack" in the middle of the supermarket because I'm sure they would have called 911. Luckily it went away again. I have refraimed from exercise for the last couple days so I don't know what could have agravated it. This is what I hate about the medical community. All I can do is sit and wait for the insurance company to approve my Cat Scan and also wait for my bloodwork results to come back. Meanwhile, it could be getting worse. So if it is a hernia and I don't have it treated can it get much worse?. If it happened when I thought it happend, than I have had this problem since late Feburary. I have been mostly exercising through it though but avoiding abdominal exercises. |

| Registered User | So whats the deal? Should I continue to lift weights and not worry about it?. Should I just avoid doing abdominal exercises and hope I don't do any further damage till I am get the Cat Scan that I need and results?. Or should I just stick with cardio and take time off from the weights so as not to cause any more damage?. Really I want to continue to lift, but if I am gonna permanently damage something or make it worse..... |

| aka HYPEdaddy! & AX Rep | i'd wait till you get confirmation of what it is. Even IF (big IF) it is a pulled muscle, alot of stuff uses your core and you can be strainging the pulled or torn muscle every time. It still sounds to me like hernia, too, though, FWIW! |

| Registered User | Thanks for chiming in. I was "approved" for the Cat Scan. I have an appointment tommorow. I have to be there at 7am even though the appointment is at 8am. They told me I have to drink something so the Cat Scan will work better or something. Plus I have to fast for 4-6 hours, but thats fine since I usually don't eat that early anyway. Had an MRI before where I had to drink this chalky tasting nasty crap but never had to do this before with a Cat Scan. I have had a Cat Scan before. Now I'll have to wait another 2 weeks just to find out what they saw on the Cat Scan. Thanks for the help guys. I'll keep everyone updated. |

| Gold Member | There could still be a number of things that haapened, a hernia is still a verly plausible cause though. Quite often there is the initial pain and then the hernia is reduced on it's own (when it doesn't reduce is when it literally becomes an emergency/that part your clear of) after it is reduce the "pain" could be gone and replaced with various types of pressure or discomforts. You may not always feel a "ball" either. There are 4 main types of hernias and each one can even be different than what it "should" be. There can be so many variables in medicine and the body. I personally don't really buy the "pulled muscle" theory. I see your scheduled for a CAT scan, that's good. I am not a Dr., but I do have medical experience and have dealt with hernias. Hope all works out well. "Corpsman Up" "Be Hard When It's Hard" "Semper Fortis" |

| Registered User | Ok well I got my bloodwork results back- actually I called the dr's office about it. My cat scan didn't show anything out of the ordinary. My bloodwork shows my liver values are "slightly elevated" in the assistant who called me back words. So now they want to do more liver tests, a "hepatic panel" or something along those lines is what they said. So screw it, I'm going back to the gym and lifting heavy. I should try doing some more sit-ups here at home but still I'm slightly worried and being home alone I don't want to call 911. I do want to do them just to see if I can get the same reaction, but don't want to cause anymore damage or put myself in the same pain again. It is the only way I am gonna find out if whatever was there before is still around. This is one of the main reasons I hate going to the doctor. They never can tell you exactly what is wrong and instead want to do constant tests that end up being useless and a waste of time and resources for all involved!. |

| Registered User | Ok so I still don't know what is wrong. I still feel "tightness" in the same area. So far I know it is not a hernia and that my liver blood tests were slightly elevated. Really I don't know what another blood test is going to prove/dis-prove at this point. |

| Registered User | Oh yeah and I don't know if I mentioned this before..For some reason I am having a hard time digesting protein foods lately. Whenever I eat a chicken breast, even just plain I immedietly get horrible gas!. |

| Dave Board Sponsor | Whats your AAS/PH history? any reason to think that you may have liver issues? doctors can be frustrating... they call it 'practicing medicine' for a reason afterall Dave (at) paloaltolabs . com PAL on MySpace Palo AltoLabs @ NUTRAPLANET..check out our online store!! | Registered User | Well I just got a call saying my second set of blood tests was normal. So I guess the reason for me not liking solid protein lately is just that I'm sick of chicken!. A lot of things go through your head though when you don't know what is wrong. So now I can rest assure I am fine. Maybe it was just a stomach virus or actually really a pulled muscle. Oh well, I wish I would have known exactly why I was in so much pain from sit ups. Just never thought a stomach virus or a pulled muscle could have caused this much pain. Maybe it was trapped gas or something because of my IBS. No need to worry about it anymore I guess. |

| Registered User | It's back!. The other day at the gym the same familiar pain/pulsation came back after just ONE SET on an abdominal machine. This is in the same area everytime my right side about 6 inches to the right of the belly button. The pain subsided after several hours and I felt a numbness/tingling in the area. This is really upseting. I mean I can't just avoid abdominal exercises for the rest of my life. Really I want to know what this is. I have ANOTHER appointment next Wednesday. |

| Gold Member | Sorry I can only chime in on the liver test. When any liver values are elevated and it's abnormal, they will routinely check for hep. just as a precautionary, which scared the **** out of me when my doc asked me to get more bloodwork done for hep. I had fatty liver disease when I was younger (which is why I know about those tests), and that actually was what motivated me to start lifting, and now that i've lost weight, it's fine. Hope they can find out what's wrong man! I know how frustrated you feel. |
