    Subway Jared

Just wondering if anyone elese is noticing the new commercials. He lost 245 pounds and kept it off for 10 years. Pretty impressive.

He seems like the annoying guy that asks all the obvious questions from high school. His commercials with famous athletes are uncomfortable to watch, especially that one with Micheal Strahan. Something just doesn't seem right about him and I would hate to be the one to find out what that is.

Not taking anything away from him but I have noticed a couple things in his recent commercials. 1) He seems to be putting on weight which is insane to me because hes probably making insane money for what he actually does. 2) I read a story about him and apparently while in college he sold porn to people and ate at Subway because it was on the first floor of his dorm (porn thing was actually a good idea since this was pre internet.)

Again good for him but hopefully he can truly keep the weight off. Also hopefully 5 years form now he wont be testifying anywhere after alleged allegations that subway forced him to take steroids to promote themselves even more.

Hate that they are making so many damn choices now that they look at you weird when you just want a turkey ham and cheese sandwich. Shoot, after I pop out baby otter #2 I should go on a subway diet! YUM!

I just can't believe that it's already been 10 years. Self-discipline like that isn't easily obtained by most people. I do agree: very impressive.

I doubt it's that challenging after the initial weight loss. I mean he has a very average build.

I imagine you've never been 30%+ overweight then. You don't get there because you have an occasional extra slice of bread, or sometimes have a second serving of broccoli. Its a combination of ingrained patterns, body chemistry, etc. once a lot comes off, its a constant battle to not return to what got you there in the first place, similar to an alchoholic who goes dry.

I agree Easy. I can't believe someone can say that its not very challenging to keep that weight off. Also, I'm sure Jared is well below is his bodys setpoint or even have a new setpoint, if that is even possible.

I was at one point, and I'm not exactly ripped now. I know it's mainly genetics that causes the downfall.

I kind of think environment plays more of a role its the habits of eating unhealthy that nail you. A piece of houlihan's death by chocolate cake on a birthday is ok, having 3 pieces a week isn't. Eggs benedict isn't too bad to have once a month, having it every day for breakfast is.... The genetics just make it a little easier or harder to start down that path of gaining. I don't care how bad your thyroid is, there is a level of intake where you won't put on fat if you also keep active. Personally with 1 hour of strenous workout a day my maintenance cals are about 2600-2800 with me at 200lbs. Its ridiculous, should be more like 3500 with that level of exercise. but it is what it is, so i've made it a point to when I am maintaining stay in that area.

This is very true. I work in a VS, and we get people every day who need protein because of the surgery.
I heard most people gain the weight back, because nothing changes. They have a procedue, then keep eating like the fatso they were before.
    Drives me crazy.

There were 2 of the ugliest women in the store the other night, I have ever seen. They reeked of cigarette smoke, and obviously got NO exercise other than grabbing for the bag of cheetos on the couch, and they needed the IDS New whey shooters.
It was at this point, I decided I now hate the bypass surgery.

don't hate the surgery, hate the idiots who ignore their doctors directions. Hate the democrats and socialized medicine, cause if they get their way your tax money will pay for these blimps to get the gastric bypass, then pay for their medical care afterwards too when they still keep slobbing down

and whats with the campaigns, and politics by "large" (fat) people
to become more socially acceptable, or cant be discriminated against?

Most fat people are viewed as lazy, I think studies have shown, Dont quote me on that however. If you want it to change that bad, you can make it happen.

Easy, you went through a HUGE transformation. Reps to you sir!

I'm still not done yet, but getting closer in a size M shirt today for the first time since high school. its snug, but looks good. its my wife's shirt (a t-shirt from las vegas)

Calories in - calories used = weight gained or lost. Theres no magic, theres no real shortcut. And even for people with a thyroid problem, there is a maintenance calorie level. it might be really low, but still they don't have to eat more than that. they choose to.

The lap band makes it easier to eat less in theory, because you get that feeling of stomach full easier. but if you perpetually stuff yourself, you'll stretch that remaining piece of stomach, and go back to eating like a pig.

Yes, these people have problems in their mind. My wife knows a few of these people. Most of them are on 20 different presciptions also. Losing that much fat that fast isn't healthy and it also phucks with their heads.
