730, jeeez, lol. that's a little early to be counting. i was told a good rule by a corporal when i first arrived in pendleton, he said "when it stops being fun, get the **** out." so i did.
and another good one by a buddy of mine the day he got out, "it was the best time i ever had, but i'd never do it again."

yeah I know....sometimes movies boost the reserve, sometime stories...but never ever everyday marine corps life

It seems like civilians are the only thing that can boost the reserve....sad as it sounds.....but most days at work make me hate being a Marine

It's funny how great it was in retrospect. At the time it sucked though. I couldn't wait to get out.

Kinda of like bootcamp I guess...really really sucked when you were there...but almost fun when it was all over....kinda like life I guess.....what doesn't kill you only makes you stronger....corny yes...but the most true statement I've ever heard.

I hated all the PT we did at PI. And then it got worse. Now, 30 years later, I make myself get up at 4am and go to the gym and do all the things I hated back then........

PI..........bahhumbug. sandfleas, sweltering heat, full gear road marches, drill practice, and of course the sand pit, ****.

Hey Mr. Beelz,
You didnt happen to catch the joke I put up did you! I havent gotten a death threat from you yet, so I am assuming not!

That's the place....I was outranked by those sandfleas.....I remember my first trip to MOT, 20 mile force march, full gear, and pt til dark.....and we ate c-rats...(you young fellas don't know just how bad they really were.....)Originally Posted by Beelzebub

Chesty Puller was the most decorated Marine ever....c'mon Beelz....At the Frozen Chosen he was completely surrounded and said something to the effect "we're surrounded, that simplifies our problems..." & "retreat hell, we're just advancing in a different direction"
He wanted to go to Vietnam in 66, but they told him he was too damn old..(where have I heard that before)
One battle he took 70 casualties and killed 1400 japs. He was definitely "THE MAN"
