My friend jesse is a good kid. Unfortunatly, he tends to think after the fact too much.

So tonight we were driving back to his house and hes going a little (caugh) faster than he should be. Its then that I see a cop chillin' in a parking lot about 20 seconds away or so. So I say "man theres a cop up there, slow up a little." Then he goes "Nah, I think there playing monday night."... :wtf:

Again, I say "dude theres a cop, chill." And he goes "ah yeah yeah ok." Hes still going pretty fast. Right as we pass the cop, he yells "oh ****, COP!"

Bottom line, he got a ticket, 60 in a 25.

So whats the worst ticket you guys have ever gotten? Personally I have never gotten any, mainly because I couldnt speed in my '88 jeep commanche if I wanted to.

60 in a 20 WOW.

He is lucky he wasn't in one of a number of states which anything over 20 MPH above the posted limit requires impounding the car.

I was driving through PA one time on a 1000 plus mile road trip. I was priding myself on the fact that in the previous 700 miles I had not been passed by a single car. Then I pass 2cars while I was going a little over 80. Well right after I pass them the farthest car back pulls out and after a few seconds starts gaining on me.

My radar detector didn't go off and the car did NOT look like an undercover car so I hit it. Well mere seconds later around about 120 as I was blowing him away :toofunny: he hits the blue and red grill lights :(

YIKES!!!!!!!!

I though oh **** I am going down. :frustrate And as he informed me anything over 20 MPH above the posted speed limit requires impounding the car. So he says how about I right you up for 80 MPH (20 over the speed limit) and I send you on the way :)

DAMN did I feel lucky.

BTW the car I was driving would have smoked the guy and he would have had NO chance of staying with me, I don't care what sort of super trooper car he had. But I was a big chicken and pulled right over.

Its smarter to pullover. I don't care what type of car you have its not faster than radioing ahead or a helicopter.lol Although I did get away once when I was a teenager but I was also shitting my pants for a week just waiting for a letter or a cop to show up at my door. I live in Pa and its actually 30mph over that you will lose your liscense. Also your lucky as hell because they could of thrown you in jail for doing 120mph.

135 in a 25 when I was in the Coast Guard. The cop had to give me a lecture about it. I paid him back for the $500 ticket though. I got him a month later for no oar in his boat ($250), not enough life jackets in the boat ($250) and the biggie, no mooring lights at night ($500). After that, I never got another ticket,HMM,wonder why?:nono:

Seriously, what can pull you over if you're going 156? By the time they flip on their lights they are so far back...."Officer I didn't see any lights", y'know?

I am not trying to be a dick, but you just started a (rather sanctimonious) thread about the sanctity of life, and the obvious atrocity of abortion. Now you are telling a funny story about your friend who was driving recklessly fast. Areas that have a speed limit of 25 mph have such because of proximity to a school or a densely populated neighborhood. Compare how many lives (cough) are lost (cough) to abortion vs. lives lost to reckless drivers. See my point?

I hate to see this light-hearted thread turned into anything else...

but, just for the record...

Total number of vehicular fatalities in 2004, according to the U.S. Department of Transportation: 42,636

Number of abortions performed in the United States in 2000, according to the CDC: 857,475 (figure does not include NH, CA, AK)

So no, I for one don't see your point.

Please, keep your debate confined to its own thread and let this one be what it is... guys looking back and laughing (maybe with a sigh of relief and a shake of the head) at some stupid things we've done on the road and the sometimes humorous and nearly always expensive consequences.

I got a $284 CT State maximum for 85 in a 65. I was doing 92 but they gave me a break. But thats all I been caught for, I am good now but when I was younger I was 150+ in a 55 by cops but was never caught.

Man. You guys got off easy. When I was doing 93 in the 55 that's what the ticket was written up for! Cost me nearly $200 and that was back in 88.

My Dad wasn't too happy either but he cut me some slack when my Grandfather told me about my Dad's escapades in his younger days with his 66 Chevy II SS.

I am fighting it, its my first ticket ever. And I recently learned that my speedometer is off by *% and the difference increases with speed. That doesn't make me innocent but I am hoping to get off with a marginal fine and maybe a defensive driving course.

85mph in a 60mph. not a huge speeding ticket, i've had worse. but this one is my particular fav cuz i flipped the cop off when he pulled up beside me to warn me of my excessive speed. he then felt it necessary to give me a ticket. go figure. :trout:

edit: in my driving career i've racked up the following: 42mph in a 15mph (1st day i had my license, virginia), 3 reckless driving tickets (1 of which was a total loss, all in virginia), 80 in a 55 (cali), 85 in a 60 (mentioned above, cali), 61 in a 35 (north carolina), there's a few more i can't remember. i was framed i tell ya :)

We had a similar experience almost. I was doing 163mph on my Suzuki 1000 about two years back and the only thing that made me stop is because of the traffic jam. {Chicago is always repairing their expressway}

The highway trooper caught up with me and I was sweating bullets because at that speed they take you to jail, they tow your bike, they take your license and you rec'v a large fine. When they step out of the squad car and walked towards me, they had their hand on their gun and they told me to take my helmet off and lay on the ground. I notice one of the officers is a female and I'm saying to myself "I know her". I started to laugh out loud and flip up my helmet and I just showed a smile. She start to yell at me and she told her partner she know me and we all just talked for a long time on the side of the expressway about motorcycle safety, bikes, racing and old times. I even talked the male trooper into buying a bike and he one of my biker friends now. In fact, I'm going to his brother bachelor party in three weeks.

but

If I didn't know the female, {yeah, I dated her before and we did a booty call later on that week} I would had went to jail, bike towed, I would had to pay a large fine and they would had took my license. Hmmm, that would have been my worst traffic ticket. {I was very lucky}.

98 in a 55. i was on my way back to PA coming from Rider in NJ. well if anyone has been pulled over by a NJ state trooper you know there is no reason to try to talk your way out of it. the way this guy was yellin at me you would have thought he had found a body in my trunk. so me being a smart ass says to him " yeah well maybe you`re just mad cause im 20 and have this car(2001 Camaro SS) and you prob drive a mini van". he was glad to hear that ****. made writing my THREE tickets a lot more fun. Total price for being late to the movie and telling the cop what i thouhgt of him was $398. well hell no i didnt pay it!!!
had to watch my ass every time i drove in NJ from then on.

I got an interesting one.

I was driving from NJ to my brother's wedding in NC. While driving through Virginia on 95, there was a point where there were literally no cars whatsoever in sight for miles and miles. I'd guess I went about 50 miles without seeing a single car.

Anyway, I'm driving along and the road starts to curve very slightly. It was only slight, but it felt like I was being dragged and I felt as if my car was only barely sticking to the road. So I look at the speedometer and it was pegged at 145. I slowed down and was thankful no cop had been there to radar gun me.

On the way back from the wedding, I was still feeling nervous about having gotten up to 145 because I hadn't been paying attention to my speed so I just stuck it in cruise control at 70mph and sat in the right lane.

Well, another white eclipse goes flying past me in the left lane, right past a NC state trooper who was radar gunning folks on the side fo the road. I saw the trooper pull out, laughed and said to myself "that guy is SO toast." The trooper pulled up behind ME and pulled ME over.

He started yelling at me, calling me a yankee and this and that. I asked what the problem was and he said "I had you pegged at 95 in a 70 you yankee son of a bitch! You know I can haul your sorry yankee ass to prison?!" I started to tell him he pulled over the wrong guy, but that just pissed him off more. He wound up telling me I'm lucky he was "in a good mood" and so he "let me off" with just the 95 in a 70 speeding ticket.

You best believe I hired a lawyer and got that **** thrown out. Wound up costing me $300 though for the lawyer.

Definitely an ironic experience
