Need Help With Hospital Bill Problem

My parents both do billing for medical companys and so we already have a plan on what to do somewhat. Me and a group of friends were in Padre for spring break. One of them got drunk and lost, the people who found her tried to bring her back to us but failed to continue communicating or answering their phones and call her an ambulance cause they thought she was too drunk. But, her phone was dead and she gave her one of our numbers through memory so obviously she wasn't needing an ambulance. Plus, when she we got there she had a wrist band on with her name and address, which again, clearly indicates someone who is just drunk and doesn't need medical attention.

We had to call the cops to find her, anyways two of us went to the hospital to get her and when we got there told them we went to take her, and she even said she wanted to leave a couple times. This is BEFORE they did any tests on her, which half of the tests were unnecessary, and she had already been there for at least an hour or two. They didn't start doing any tests until we started making a scene about the situation and tried to leave. Anyways, we are going to get the medical records and file an appeal. The bill was $12,000 because they didn't have her insurance but gave her an Uninsured New Patient Discount? And that brought it down to $1,800. But she was insured at the time, just did not have an insurance card.

Just looking for any other ideas from anyone who may be more knowledgeable.

Maybe have her call her insurance company..
We are gonna try and figure out of her deductible is less than what the hospitals discount made it, ultimately want to pay none of it because it was all unnecessary and they refused to let us leave.

The big thing is she's in college with a part time job, her mom kicked her out at 17 because her moms new boyfriend moved in and made her mom crazy. Her mom is now kicking her off her insurance because "her dad has the money to pay for her to be on his insurance." It's all just ridiculous. One of the people who went to the hospitals uncle is a Lawyer and she called him while we were there and he said they have to let us leave if she says so, so we did and they wouldn't let us. We're hoping if we need to he'll help out for free, since his bill would cost more than the hospital bill. Lol

That's what some people would call a "stupid tax". http://m.nydailynews.com/news/national/missing-spring-breaker-found-dead-south-padre-island-article-1.2163745

Unfortunately this kids tax cost him more. If you have to wear a bracelet with name and adress because you think you might get to wasted to take care of yourself...

Same with this kid that fell off a cruise ship. He willingly climbed over the rail. There's no way possible to fall off a cruise ship without doing something intentional first.

Sorry I don't have much sympathy, it's called Darwin at work.

Just because she didn't want to be there and she DIDN'T LEAVE before they did tests is part of life. The hospital provided service and needs to get payed.
