  1. Craft Beers / Microbrews: What Are You Drinking?

So I'm currently at the arena watching the Sabres get destroyed by the Bruins, and I figured that I'd start this thread for some entertainment.

Post in this thread which microbrew / craft / session beer (whatever you want to call it) you're currently drinking and tell us a bit about it. Give us your beer review and maybe point some AM members to a few beers worth checking out.

I'll post a bit later on after the game about my current fave: Stone Brewing Co.'s "Xocoveza."

  2. Great thread to start. I drank some red wine tonight but I usually drink craft brews and I also brew my own. I have a nice Octoberfest on tap right now.

  6. Xocoveza: marketed as a "Mexican hot chocolate" stout, and aptly named. Served/drank at room temperature so the spices and peppers (!) could have their full effect. Not overly hot but "warm" as a beer like this should make you feel after drinking it; will only be better as it gets colder out.
Nice vanilla taste that lingers on the tongue, and a semi-sweet chocolate coffee flavor coats the mouth. Reddish brown haze floating like an oil spill on top of the beer once the head dissipates.
Despite the 8.1 % abv, this is a smooth beer and one of the best stouts I've ever had. 10/10!

  7. Subbed hoping for some pumpkin beer recommendations. Absolute best part of the fall season without question.

  8. Pumpkin beers are pretty inconsistent from brewery to brewery; would def be interested to know a couple other decent ones besides Southern Tier Pumking

It's a high gravity chocolate stout that's rich. It's one of my favorites. I use to like IPAs but one day had a change of heart and stick to stouts. It's not something I can drink all day but it's delicious when having a drink or 2.

  10. There's a local brewery here that does sweet potato beer, pretty good actually

  11. Here in Buffalo we have some local breweries opening up all over; Resurgence Brewing has an Orange Sponge Candy Stout, Skittlebrau, and Lucky Charms Stout. The last one because of the famous smell along our waterfront from the General Mills plants

  16. I'm still new to the "craft beer" world, but a local beer I really like is Cigar City's Jai Alai, it's an IPA, I like the taste and you won't need too many of them to enjoy yourself.

My palate doesn't tolerate IPAs well, but I've heard good things about Cigar City

Yeah it took some getting used to for me, but all their options seem to be pretty good.

  22. I love me some craft brew. I actually like to "extract brew" a few of my own every fall. My old man has 3 kinds of hops growing in his garden. A honey wheat is one of my favorites for fall.

  23. here is my beer tip for today if you are in SoCal hit up one of my favorite spots
    iron-fist-brewing-logo.png
They always have a local food trucks there during tasting hours and they sell very cheep flights of beer. I think three bucks for a 4 beer taste
You have to check out their roots of wrath while you are there or you may be able to find their velvet glove

One of my favorite places to go after a game or out to dinner down town is the Yard House. With a beer list bigger than their food menu and more beers on tap than their are states in the USA
    here is the list

  25. went to cape may brewery about a month ago and really enjoyed their beer

but stay away from ipa's, i think they are gross and from what i've been told the original ipa's were because the person making the beer sucked at it and just put in a bunch of hops to make up for their shatty beer...and it became trendy
