It seems I've been running into a lot of garbage low quality dubstep lately as dubstep begins to grow into the mainstream.

Post your favorite and, in your opinion, the filthiest dubstep songs out there so we can relieve ourselves of this bull**** the media is force-feeding us.

Dubstep isn't really a type of music. It's a type of dance. The music is considered drum and bass ish. BUT Datsik, Dirty Bass Lines, Rusko are some of my favorites.

Thanks for the awesome insight!
I work at a concert venue and also set up for alot of festivals in the summer time. We host occasional Dubstep parties and most the festivals being its Detroit are techno orientated. I'm very familiar with techno music, I grew up on it in the city that created it. The type of demographic Dubstep events draw are of the trashy , druggy types indeed. Since it has no real dancable beat these kids just flail and kick about looking worse then a harlem shake video. We have multiple EMT teams with ambulances on sight for these events because of the high rate of drug overdoses. House and real techno events are quite different and draw more of an intelligent older crowd and also don't get out of control Don't get me wrong I don't mind watching hot girls on extacy in lacy lingerie and fury boots jump around and I think Dubstep music could be cool in some scenarios like movie soundtracks and driving fast on the highway but it generally draws a lower class of individual in my experience being that I'm from where I am and doing what I do for a living. But what would I know

And you are wrong , it is a type of music. Drum and bassish? That's not a type of music. It may have derived from drum n bass which is a genre among many it has roots in but it's not that in any sense just a dance.

Mike, your last statement has my attention. Care to offer up your suggestions on music similar to, but better than, dubstep?

Look into some older drum n bass (early/mid 90s). Diesel Boy, phantom 45, Carlos soulslinger. Those are some of the pioneering jungle/DnB guys

Sooooo what ur saying is that since u have been to some raves in one of the most drug ridden slum towns in the USA that Dubstep is for white trash? Interesting because I didn't consider myself white trash. Ill mark that down.

And you were correct it is a TYPE of music not derived from a dance. My apologies.

Dubstep (/dbstp/) is a genre of electronic dance music that originated in South London, England, United Kingdom. It emerged in the late 1990s as a development within a lineage of related styles such as 2-step garage, broken beat, drum and bass (jungle), and dub reggae.

No problem , it's been a looking time since I've listened to that stuff. These days it's mostly old punk , hardcore/punk, and jazz with some classical here an there

Sorry you feel that you were lumped into a category. Apperently you don't have a lack humor or knowledge on the subject to be able to understand said humor. If I seem judgmental towards a genre of music and/or fan base of that music it's because I've watched it turn a once respectable music scene into bounce , screech candy land and I kinda miss the good OL days. You'd have had to been there. Was a great subculture. From what I gather from my friends still in the industry that moved to over seas it's alive and well in Germany. Music in every genre since the turn of the century for the most part lacks originality and soul. It's all a big sht show nowadays. But that's just my opinion being around an involved in various early music scenes. Anyway sorry if I offended you but if you truly are a fan of techno music then check out those names I dropped earlier, turn down the lights. spark some candles , smoke em if ya got em and get weird for a bit. I wouldn't steer you wrong.

Dub step is low quality white trash techno.
From a DJing stand point it's certainly the hardest to mix and scratch. Dubstep took DJing to the next level... @ 160-180 BPM with no logical sequence of beats it takes a crazy amount of precision and experience on the tables. BTW did I mention it takes a month to produce a single track. Producing the **** is even harder than mixing it assuming your using your own recorded sounds and professional software.

My buddy here in Detroit helped pioneer alot of that movement. I always give him **** because we go way back but he says the scene died and its the only thing that brought any techno music back to main stream popularity . That and it's what he does for a living so he had to in order to continue djing and making music. the parties bank like a mother****er. To me it just sounds like drum n bass got raped by gabbar and trance and they had an ugly kid. Haha

That's the point?

The purpose of this thread wasn't to argue with people ignorant to the art of DJing. The purpose is to make the music so that idiots like you can't mix and go around bitching that it doesn't have a beat. If you can mix it... it has a beat, son. Wolfgang= half decent mainstream garbage, Zedd= even worse mainstream garbage, if you found them on itunes or youtube, odds are what you're listening to is garbage.

Sorry homie, I think trance is garbage too. I understand why some people like it though. Mainstream techno. I feel its like the pop version of techno. I consider Dubstep is the new trance as far as that level of mainstream popularity. I'm just more of a purest when it comes to techno music but like I said , I've grown up going to parties in the city that created it listening to and personally knowing its forefathers so I've got a different prospective then most. Just like original house music fans from Chicago. People that hail from a musics original birthplace usually have a broader insight on it.

Easy with the name calling there. He didn't get personal with you. Granted I hijacked alil but you posted a thread critiquing a genre of electronic music and I gave my opinion on the genre itself. You post a topic you're subject to it being criticized ;-)

I get it. Being from the north east I hate so called "hip-hop" they have now. I'm more Nas, gang starr, big pun era. There are always good new artists but so much is trash. But thats the beauty of music. People like what they like.

Hip hop is dead. Throughout the 90s I collected undergound hip hop vinyl and would dj after hours , house parties, put out occasional mix tapes and also spin alil downtempo/trip hop in chill rooms at warehouse parties. I joined the service and sold everything, record collection and all to friends. I don't miss my tables but I do miss all my original print vinyl that is irreplaceable :-(

Wow , didn't know that. That's a shame. We just had a J Dilla tribute at my work the other night and Talib Kweli performed. It was like a trip back to the late 90s. Alot of heads from back in the day looking like old farts now. Haha.! Had a cool nostalgic feel though that I haven't experienced in a loooong time.

Right on. I've heard buzz but not the other.

I just remembered probably two of the funniest tracks I've ever heard in my life were these two disgusting tracks called pornstep and nympho. ****ing riot and they go hard.

Dubstep is freaking horrible, I mean absolutely horrible. I never thought when I got older that I would be one of those people who wonder why people listen to a certain type of music, yet here I am and it's happening.

I can understand how it would be, there's ALOT going on in there. I just don't see it as dance music per say. Like I said I think it's cool in some scenarios. It's just when I've worked the dubstep parties and electronic festivals it looks more like a candy raver rock show with a bunch of drugged out people rockin their no shame attire. It is amusing as **** though ill give it that.

Interesting, is irony when someone responds to a post that no one cares about.

Mike it's not just drugged out ravers who listen to dipstep, as you can see.

1 month for a track? Lol

Oh I forgot to put son in there so I got my point across better.

Just my opinion but most dubstep sounds like $hi# . Don't get it twisted there are a few good songs but that's it. After reading all comment I honestly had to put on drunkenmunky on pandora.
