A report published in 1998 says that it is estimated that 55% of the adult population in the United States are either obese or overweight. Obesity substantially increases an individual’s risk of suffering from chronic diseases such as hypertension, coronary artery disease, and diabetes. Those people with excess fat in the belly area are at increased health risk.
