My girlfriend at the time was asked once if she was training for ms. Olympia. She was fit (played tennis and soccer) but that still got a night hearty WTF from me.
Luckily people don't ask me too much at the gym anymore. When I started at this one a few years ago, I'd never talk to anyone - just go in music blaring in my ears and get work done. Then as I began to make friends, they talked more and my time there became a social event as well...something that I really needed anyway. (Having a family now kinda puts a cramp on the ol' social life. Growing up sucks!!!)
But every once in a while I get a girl in there who is outgoing enough to make smalltalk, and it seems that if I offer any advice on how to do something correctly, their response is the same..."I don't want to get all big like you!". HA!! Me? I don't think I'm that big, and I'm definitely not as huge as Kim (swollwilliams) up there! Dumbest thing is when someone alludes to me using steroids. I don't, never have, and never will. It's funny, but kinda insulting at the same time. I end up laughing it off knowing that if I ever did "use", I'd be in much better shape than I am now! Oh, well...no accounting for the ignorance of the general public sometimes...

"Is that steroids you're taking?" (as I sip a strawberry-coloured protein shake)
Seriously. "Why have you chicks decided you want muscles?"
"Do these dumbbells make me look fat?"

"Do you play soccer?"...completely out of nowhere.
Hahaha, some really funny things here. An old friend I bumped into gym on wednesday, had put on quite a bit of fat, well, he looked like he had a spare tyre around his waist to be honest, kinda like he was wearing an inflatable swimming float/ring around his stomach?! lol....
In a convo, he said to me..."Yeh man, I just really wana turn this fat into muscle" (while doing situps)
Anyone ever hear the Trying to turn this fat into muscle B.S?! Never seems to get old in my gym lol.
two skinny guys tell me while i am doing dips "you use creatine"
me "yes i do"
then the guy turn the back to me and i can hear him talking quietly to his bro....
"creatine is good but it won t give you muscles"
thebro asking "so you re not using creatine?"
me "yes, i do but creatine is just a supplement (blahblahblah)"
me "you need to come here like today and workout hard and sweet like i do"
theskinny ask me if their workout was enough (they did like two pullups sets of 3reps)
i answer "no you come here you workout one hour, you sweet and get pain"
It s was a bit harsch but they understood.
I saw the skinny last monday again no talk just "hello"
I must not look friendly in the gym because I never get stupid comments.
Now outside the gym it seems to be daily. Especially the "Do you bodybuild?" Seriously, you have to ask!
Or the can I touch you? Uhm..no!!!
So if a majority of our research studies are financed by large corporations, then where does that leave us? Do not take research findings as "gospel".
Today while working out two girls called me,
me "yes "
thegirls "we want to let you know you are beautiful, blahblah"
me "hmm i m not sure it is about me" (thinking rather about my body)
thegirls smiling close to my body and watching me
"You are beautiful and we wanted to tell you because we look at you working out and blahblah, we have friends with muscles but not like you it s amazing.. blahblah"
me "Well thank you it s very nice to know from you"
thegirls understood i was taking my rest (i was sweaty and taking my breath)
"We are going to let you"
Then one of the girls ask me
"Do you want a cookie " (it was not a cookie but a biscuit with pepite of chocolate)
me "no no thank you i m training, it s nice "
Then the girlfriend say to her friend
"ooooo, he is working out you do not want to give a biscuit, he need to keep his athlete body blahblah see you, keep on .... "
me ")))))))))))))))))))))) thank you haha"
im on a college powerlifting team and we always get a ton of stares during deadlift day and tons of dumb questions and remarks. like someone told me that deadlifts are useless and power cleans are better.... the same guy did bench every day for the longest time.
one day my buddy was benching and some skinny kid was walking by and said "whats he on, creatine or something??" i busted out laughing
