I start my contest diet next week. I'm very excited I haven't competed in almost 2 years. I'm looking forward to getting back on stage.

  9. well my training has taken a back seat this week. I ended up having tonsilitis and after the antibiotics didn't work went back in this morning. After going to the clinic, than the hospital for a cat scan, than off to the Ear, nose, throaght doctor. He drained out the infection. I feel better already and hopefully by Sunday back in the gym. I was on good track so it shouldn't put me off track. i still have 4 weeks and not much BF to take off.

  10. Best of luck to you! I start my diet soon too, just not sure if I'm going to do 14 weeks or 12

  11. I usually start mine at 8 weeks out. but the older i get I think 10-12 weeks would be a better starting point. I'm ready to be done with this ..lol.. I have vacation the week after my contest. I will be ready for it that's for sure. Keep me posted on your contest prep. I'm now at 3 weeks out. Thank god for RPM and Drive.

  12. I would like to do a contest prep diet for 8-12 wks and get BF% down from 17% to 8-10% as a trial run to see what I look like and what I need to work on. Any suggestions on diet would be great!

For a start 8-12 weeks is NOT long enough to go from 17% BF to 8-10% BF. Calculate your 'weeks' by using a loss of 0.5% BF per week (the slower you lose the BF, the less likely you are to put it back on). This means that you would need 14-18 weeks to get to your target BF %.

Second, you DON'T need to "diet" (i.e. low calories or cutting out carbohydrates) to get there. Just follow a sensible nutrition plan (and train appropriately (and this does NOT mean excessive cardio).
