Hi :)

My name is Clemence, I'm french, and 26 y.o. I would really like to start fitness but would love your advises on where to start.

My current weight is 123.5 lbs for 5"4, I'm not overweight but I want to burn fat and gain muscle. My current diet is based on the paleo foods, I don't want to take Whey or anything like that because I have dry eye syndrome and Hashimoto's thyroidis and am not sure it would be indicated.

I think I eat too much fruits. I've cut dairy and all grains for medical reasons. I drink tons of Diet coke and I think it would be better to cut that too (but it's hard !!). I don't know my bodyfat %

This is a pic of my abdomen region taken today, as you can see I tend to store fat here...

Any tips, suggestions are welcome :) thanks for your help!

Hello Clemence and welcome to AM! I too have Hashimoto's. You made some smart changes already! I would definitely cut out or cut back on the diet sodas....Can you tell me more about your diet? Do you exercise?

All of that sounds good! What matters is that it's balanced! Check out this calculator.. It can help you understand how much protein to carbs and fats you need. http://iifym.com/iifym-calculator/

Also. If you're not lifting- I would suggest you start lifting weights. You could start with a full body routine 3x's a week.

Ive never run into a problem with my set of powerblocks. You can do 95% of all dumbell exercises and you will never run out of weight to use.

Good luck and welcome to AM!

Power blocks are a good idea. They aren't convenient for drop sets or different weight super sets, but they are a cheap(er) way to get a lot of DB weight.

I have the adjustable bow flex (90s), but they are a little bulky/wide.

I'd also suggest, finances allowing, some bands (eliteFTS dot com). They can be used for all kinds of movements, squats and good mornings included, and as you progress look into other weights (squat bar!!).

Welcome to AM! If you have the money, Ironmaster makes a great set of adjustable DBs. I don't know if they are available outside the US but check out Ironmaster.com.

Not sure your age but my wife has the dreaded stomach fat issue as well. Doctor has told her to cut out all SOY from her diet.

I can support the iron master DBS. I have them personally and they are easily changed and adjusted.

In terms of supps, if diet and training are in check, take a look at the gym angel line. There are a lot of specifically designed female products. If I can be of any assistance, please feel free to let me know.

power blocks makes an entry level set that I believe is geared towards women. I think it goes from 2.5-25 lbs. and they also sell a bar that connects the two dumbells to create a barbell for squats and other things you might do with one. also finding a good adjustable work out bench is just as important in my opinion. look for something that has the ability to adjust to decline and incline positions and has a good foot hold with nice comfortable padding..

I also recommend a few supplements but I will leave that to kat since she shares some of the ailments you have as well.
